I'm rather new, I was going to install Mavericks when it came out and decided against it. But I have an iMac at work I use now with Yosemite installed on it, I have got to say I love it.

All my attempts to even boot into the installer have ended in failure.

The issue I ran into I couldn't figure out was something to do with ACPIEC.

If anyone has this laptop and has Yosemite installed, I would be very grateful for a guide.

There is the dedicated nVidia card that the laptop is always suppose to use, however it does have integrated Intel HD 4600 Graphics.

You did not use the guide I linked.

There is the dedicated nVidia card that the laptop is always suppose to use, however it does have integrated Intel HD 4600 Graphics.

If you have both, your nvidia is not dedicated... it is "switched". If that is the case, you'll always be using HD4600.

That guide appears to imply the nvidia is dedicated.

Since you're confused on this important detail, you should find out for sure. Run 'lspci -nn' in Linux Terminal and post the result here.

There is no Intel graphics in that list...

So what you wrote previously:

Moving along...

You should probably refer to the guide you linked in post #4 for clues. You can't read it literally, as Yosemite has slight differences, but you can probably use it to determine what you need to make the nvidia graphics work.
