Just in case someone is still searching for this, I can confirm that you can install Sierra (then upgrade to High Sierra) on an ASRock Z75 Pro3 without any custom DSDT. I also did not require the modified BIOS for the motherboard that was floating around. Dual boot with to a separate Win10 disk using Clover is also working just fine.

If you happen across this motherboard, it is possible, but it is probably better to invest in something newer.. Just my two cents.

Hi

I am a holder of the same motherboard. A question and I take advantage of the post, you as you have managed to start from the hard drive the operating system (without usb boot), I have used several options of the forum (fix bios, linux mint etc,,,) and I do not succeed. And what ketx have you used?

I use high sierra.

Thank you.

@kaiserrr I have to admit that my attempts to install High Sierra directly onto this motherboard were frustrating to say the least. I never did get it to work, and the reasons were not straight forward. What I ended up doing was installing Sierra on this system, using the appropriate version of Unibeast to make the boot USB key. That worked without an issue. Then I upgraded to High Sierra using the Apple software updater. Getting the correct version of the Nvidia drivers setup the first time was a bit interesting, but just keep trying and you will find the one for the exact system version you are at (there are several).

Here is my debug report, which has lists of all the Kexts and UEFI drivers that I used. Thought I did try the weird patched firmware for this motherboard in my attempts, when I did my successful install with Sierra I used the most current version 2.0 of the ASRock bios.

-edit-

I need to add that I actually have the Z75 Pro3 not the board you are showing in your profile, the Z77 Pro3. I think the differences between the models are slight, but it might need a slightly different SMBIOS than mine to support the chipset.
