The 6xx Kepler desktop cards work natively in 10.8.2- but you can also use the separate Nvidia drivers. Yeah- it's confusing- the separate drivers are needed for Fermi cards to avoid strange issues.

10.8.2 Brings Complete Native Support for NVIDIA GF100, GF110 and GK104

Great news, thanks.

I think the fusion drive will be part of CoreStorage. I wrote something up about it....

http://threedevices.com/2012/10/24/how-the-fusion-drive-on-the-new-imac-and-mac-mini-will-work/

I think it will be possible using the CS commands in the terminal. Just waiting for next OS update to see what they are.

Wow- thanks for writing that up and linking it- I betcha the new stuff is in this update:

Let us know what you find!

Ok so if some of these processors have HD 2500 graphics but they aren't enabled as you suspect, will this mean Airplay Mirroring may possibly work via dedicated Kepler GPUs and new system definitions?

I'd be very happy if this were the case.

The "Fusion Drive" is just the Apple branded product of a Momentus XT Solid State Hybrid Drive.
If you want this performance, get a Momentus XT SSHD.

I have used momentous XT and it is a poor design as it only has a measly 4gb of ssd drive built in and for it to work effectively you would need about 32gb which would hold the entire is and your main applications. The 4gb gets mixed up and caches the wrong data and slows down again. Fusion drive is not a single physical drive with new technology it will be Intel rapid start technology which is a software link and the drivers will just cache the is and apps to a normal separate msata or ssd drive from a traditional hard disk to boot quicker into is osx amd apps. Apple have just renamed this to 'Fusion drive' to sound like it is there new great idea. Don't be fooled. ;-)

MacBook pro 13 retina teardown. Tonymac's site is the best and the hackintosh world feels more and more sensible after each new mac teardown. Lets wait for the new iMac teardown.

MacBook pro 13 retina teardown.

MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Repairability: 2 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair)
There appears to be enough space to fit a regular 5 mm or 7 mm 2.5" laptop drive, but a custom cable will need to be developed.
The battery is still glued into the laptop's top case, but it's slightly less difficult to remove compared to the 15" model.
Proprietary pentalobe screws prevent you from gaining access to anything inside.
The RAM is surface-mount soldered to the logic board, so no upgrade is possible. It will forever have 8 GB of RAM.
The display assembly is almost impossible to take apart. If anything ever fails inside the display, you'll need to replace the display as a whole.
Great news, thanks.

Right- that is the one that is supported only by the official drivers- that is the exception to the rule.

Hey Tony, since the GTX 650 Ti also uses the GK106, wouldn't it also need the nVidia drivers ?
Oh and btw, I found out that the GTX 660M that the new iMacs use is actually a GK107-based chip like the GTX 650 non-Ti and the GT 640. and the GTX 675MX/680MX are GK104-based so none the macs use GK106 (so it looks like nVidia drivers are required for GK106, right ?)
