Apple 27" cinema display with Gigabyte 6850

I was wondering if with adapter like this one (link below) would let me connect a 27" cinema display (not thunderbolt) to my graphics card via display port. Thanks in advance!

I have been wondering the same thing and from my research the thunderbolt display only works with real thunderbolt ports. So basically thunderbolt is backwards compatible with mini-display port, but mini display port will not output to this monitor.

That adapter should work with 24" cinema display though.

EDIT: Some people have gotten it to work using this...

I'm a little confused by your link because it's a mini display mort to display port. The 6850 doesn't have a display port on it. But anyways. Here are some cheaper versions than what valkerie has posted. One is sold by apple and the other I found by googling. I have not tested either of them. So best of luck with that.

I am currently using the display port on my 6850. So if my question was confusing then let me make it more clear. If i get a 27" cinema display then could I attach the adapter that I linked in my first post could I get full resolution speakers working etc... Thanks for your help!

You were definitely right. That's my bad. I was thinking wrong. I was thinking mini dvi not display port. Carry on your cable is just fine.
