Hiya,

Hoping you can help.
Been using the Wifi on my HP ProBook 4440s for over a year now but it seems to have died on me.
It is unable to find any network and only tries to search for a split second. The logo is greyed out as if I'm not close enough to a network for it to find.

The network itself is fine, I'm using the wifi on other devices; I'm currently using the ProBook through an Ethernet ok and I have not updated my OS since I got it working over a year ago. I should also note that no updates or files were installed near or at the time of this issue occuring.

Having not done this for a while I'm pretty rusty.. not sure which steps to take to avoid fresh installs etc if it's a small fix.

Sys Info: Clover System running 10.10.3
Wifi Sys Report:
Software Versions:
CoreWLAN: 5.0 (500.35.2)

Thank you.

Test your hardware on Windows.

I actually don't have a copy of windows or a dual boot setup so due to lack of experience, I would probably just dig myself a hole trying to get windows on it to check. Is it fair to suggest that because the laptop battery gets really hot, over time it's damaged the WLAN Module's ability to search for networks and replacing it would likely fix the issue?

Not possible to guess about hardware issues.

Windows can be downloaded from the internet.

I replaced the WLAN Module and it hasn't changed the issue so I will now attempt a windows boot to check hardware and get back to you. Thanks.

It turned out to just be that little button with the internet globe by it! I feel silly.

That is your WiFi on/off button (you can read about it in the documentation provided by HP).

I should probably make a note of it in that guide...
