I figured I'd stop spamming your threads and consolidate here. Hopefully this can be turned into a solved/guide post.

In short, my SATA ports loaded as Generic fine in Mojave but I'm guessing it was improper and I was simply getting away with it. In 10.15.2 if I enable any occupied or unoccupied SATA port I get a Kernel Panic followed by a reboot.

The short end of the panic is this:

I've tried various AHCIPort Injectors and Hot Plugs but still to no avail.

Absolutely any and all advice is welcome.

SOLVED: No more than 3 minutes after this post I discovered I was using IntelMausiEthernet instead of the newer IntelMausi and that littttttle detail borked this whole thing.

Well, I have this problem only after an update. Thankfully, when I disable AHCI sata in Bios, I can boot. I have my system installed on NVME. Then, I restore from backup (local timemachin) and its all good. Would like to see a proper fix thou :/

Same problem.... Fix woul be very helpfull since HD´s other than nvme ssd arent accessible....

In my setup I noticed a few things.

1) Reading the motherboard manual, I saw which SATA ports became inactive when using x4 mode for the NVME. Coincidentally I also noticed that x4 mode on an NVME nulled my thunderbolt port.

2) When on Catalina I need a generic SATA SSDT.
