Here I am:

  • Installed 10.6.3 and booted with iBoot[/*:m:yzvkyvxi]
? no problem, as usual
  • Enable Remote Access[/*:m:yzvkyvxi]
? done
  • Place DSDT.aml and MultiBeast 3.7.2 on desktop[/*:m:yzvkyvxi]
? done
  • Install MultiBeast with only UserDSDT and System Utilities task[/*:m:yzvkyvxi]
? successful
  • Rebooted directly without iBoot CD and with "-v" option[/*:m:yzvkyvxi]
? booting stops at this stage with a constant HDD LED:

Let's boot with iboot and apply 10.6.7 and run multibeast with UserDSDT and System Utilities + Bootloader
Nice idea, but as usual the system is unable to boot again, even with the iBoot CD.
This is the reason why I enabled ssh, now I can ask your question. ;)

What kexts are inside /Extra/Extensions now?
Code:
user1s-mac-pro:~ user1$ ls -la /Extra/Extensions
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Sep 8 15:30 .
drwx------ 8 user1 wheel 272 Sep 8 15:30 ..
drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Jan 6 2011 FakeSMC.kext

By the way:
The system does again not boot, even with iBoot CD and "-x -v" option.
It now waits with
"ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out" but is accessible via SSH.

Bummer, i was hoping that you 2 would find a solution. I am also having problems updating to 10.6.8, even though i have a different motherboard (GA - z86p)

I have to throw in the towel on this one...
Perhaps try Lion on using other method out in the internet.
Three thumbs up for your support, many thanks!
A wonder why I don't give up yet...

My main problem is that I don't know what the problem is.
I hoped that one of the admins might join in for some analysis.

I would love to give you a clone of my OSX working in both Snow Leopard and Lion, but unfortunately it's impossible.

If I had a choice + hardware, I would try the following.
Get my base 10.6.3 and clone to another partition.

Step #1
-Use Easybeast instead of UserDSDT and observe the result.

Step #2
-Use a different video card and observe the result.

Step #3
-Use a different hard drive and observe the result.

Step #4
-Use 1 stick of RAM

This is like going through the process of elimination.

If all fails, then I will call Gigabyte and get a replacement for the MOBO (if still under warranty...they are usually warranty for 3 years)

sounds crazy, but that would be the approach.
Because the error does not really pin point to a source that is EASY to troubleshoot.

It would be very interesting to see how a working HDD behaves in my setup.

Indeed I have some hardware to try, but not too much. I can test a Geforce 9400GT and another HDD. And I have the other 2x 2GB I took out for installation.

Already done that, no difference. (Documented somewhere in the thread)

To be done.

Already done that, but not thoroughly. Will do again.

To be done. Also replace RAM with other 2 sticks.

I doubt that this will work, as I don't have the right arguments.
A supported OS (Windows 7) is working and an unsupported (OSX) is not.
There was no change in my setup since it was working, the only things which have changed are iBoot and MultiBeast.
But usually these are improved to work better and make it easier, so this is what I don't understand.

I requested a CustomBeast, let's see how far we can get with this. ;)
Tomorrow I have to leave home for two weeks and cannot continue with trial & error.

ahh, I'm having the same problem pin my same setup. Same mother board, same video card. Tried the 10.6.7 to lion method, still failed. Any solutions?!

I really want Lion to work!

any new ideas, any new question/ info about the errors? Maybe i can be a second subject on the same problem...
