10.8.3 can no longer boot

Status
Not open for further replies.
Well, just managed to boot now.

I disabled the internal graphics adapter and vt-d in Bios. Boots fine now!

I had to disable the HD4000 and just use my NVIDIA GTX 670 to get 10.8.3 to boot past the grey apple screen. Any ideas how to use both GPU's so I can use airplay mirroring?

It sounds like you may already have the answer to your problem, but I thought I would offer my situation as .02cents.
I had a working install of 10.8.3, swapped out my apple usb mouse, for my logitech mac wireless mouse with usb rf dongle. It was working fine, too. Until I rebooted a few days later. I kept getting the same error as this thread started with. I changed everything in the bios, following the guide for my mb. Nothin. Then I looked down at my mouse. I felt like the biggest idiot. I powered off, loaded defaults in bios, set a few known changes to bios, restarted, and BAM! Nothin' but net.

I should have remembered to make sure the hardware was happy first.

Had the same issue with my Mac-mini Hackintosh..GA-H77N-WiFi, Intel Core i3-3225 (using HD4000 graphics), etc.

...rebooted -> F12 -> from the Unibeast ML USB-HDD -> select system ML using -x (safe mode) ->now reboots in Safe Mode...

...move to Trash from System/Library/Extensions both AppleHDA.kext and HDAenabler.kext. Also moved /Extras/ folder to Trash...

...full reinstall Multibeast 5.2.1 with all my previous settings (as per TonyMac guide)...shut down...

...again, reboot -> F12 -> this time, boot into Unibeast ML on USB-HDD -> Repair Permissions on system disc...

...now, reboot normally.

This worked for me...everything seems to be functioning OK, so far. (Also, reinstalled MacMan's Chimera 2.0.1 just to be on safe side.)

Good Luck!

Holy crap this works for me thank you thank you thank you!!!

I've been stuck on my a build for the last 2 weeks.

It is my 8th, but my first using a new unibeast drive with 10.8.3 instead of 10.8.0.

I'm in a daze but all I can say is thanks again!!

Here is the real issue ... the 3770 has a VT-d hardware ... something changed from 10.8.0 to 10.8.3 that does not go well with the VT-d hardware. Disabling the VT-d hardware in the BIOS fixes all those issues, everything works fine

Interesting, since the build I was having problems with originally had a 3770 which I got working when I replaced it with a 3770K.

I was about to RMA the 3770, but I will try it in a new build with VT-d disabled to see if that was the case... thanks!

I've tried this but without success.

Hi I managed to get my system working fine with Intel HD4000, but not with my AMD 6870 (details here).

I think the problem is with the detection of the CPU. While I boot with -x -v it detects correctly my cpu, if I boot normally it hangs showing me
Code:
[COLOR=#3E3E3E]WARNING: IOPlatformPluginUtil : getCPUIDInfo: this is an unknown CPU model 0x3a
[/COLOR]
I think this has something to do with FakeSMC and FakeSMC Plugins, but I can't get around it. Some help?

Mine does that "unknown cpu" -- doesn't seem to mean anything.
I think its simply because I have an i3-3225 with a corresponding system definition of macmini6,2 (which wants an i5)

Some postings suggest this can be fixed with some binary editing. I just never pursued it.
side note - I get the "unknown locale 60" with the wifi -- similar issue = warning, not an error per se
