    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

The 6800XT and 6900XT should work fine on any version of OC. The USB issues are not related to the GPU. They're because you don't have a USB port map. Check for my earlier posts in this thread, where I uploaded my EFI including a USB port map. Some other people have uploaded theirs as well.

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Hi tosh, thank you very much for your detailed reply to my post. I've been super busy the last weeks and haven't been able to go through it in detail, but hope to soon. I think I had exactly the same problem as you when I tried to update on BIOS F3f - the system freezing after a couple of...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

I'm running an AMD 6900XT on my Gigabyte Designare X299X, currently with BIOS F3C, and it runs fine. Currently on 11.4 but I'll upgrade to 11.5 when it's out of beta (soon I think).

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Hi Tosh Can you please give more detail on what does not work in 11.4 with F3F and F3G? I tried F3F a few weeks ago and had a major problem (could not even boot) - seemingly related to NVME. But others reported success (I don't know if they were on 11.4 or not). I have not been able to test...

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

In DaVinci Resolve Studio I can output HW accelerated 1080p H264 files at ~240 FPS. Edit: H265 is ~210 FPS: In both cases source media was DNxHR, ie not using accelerated GPU decoding and therefore giving the best possible output speed.

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

It was never required, it was an optional kext intended to provide some performance boosts on certain GPUs. But no, there's no reason to use it with a 6000-series GPU as it won't do anything. RadeonBoost contains a list of properties to apply to certain specific GPUs. It doesn't contain any...

The shikigva argument doesn't work in Big Sur and likely won't ever work again. However AppleTV should work with these cards and MacPro or iMacPro SMBIOS; it does for me. I see you're on Ryzen - you'll need to add WhateverGreen's unfairgva=1 boot argument. That should fix it.

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

Be aware that the ATY,bin_image should be exactly 64KB. If you dump your BIOS you'll likely get a file that's larger than that, I think because it contains both legacy and UEFI BIOS. Here's the method I used: 1. Booted as normal, I used the following command to write my existing ATY,bin_image...

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

Congrats on your VBIOS success @byteminer It is possible to do this via Acidanthera tools. Not OpenCore, but WhateverGreen, plus an SSDT. I've done it myself in the past. You can specify an "ATY,bin_image" block on the GPU device and this defines the VBIOS used by the macOS GPU driver...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

I strongly recommend no-one upgrade to F3F unless you have plenty of time to diagnose possibly major issues! EDIT: I'm back in F3C now and everything is back to normal. I will try again tomorrow to double check I didn't make some mistake in the BIOS, though what I could have misconfigured to...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Thanks for the heads-up, @teosoft. Wow so they actually did add Resizable Bar support. I'd been assuming they were going to never release a new BIOS ever. That'll theoretically be good for my 6900XT in Windows, but it's currently unusable in macOS (and must be disabled to boot macOS on most...

Install Intel Power Gadget then use HWMonitorSMC2. iStat Menus provides some info as well, but not all. This also requires VirtualSMC.kext + SMCProcessor.kext + SMCSuperIO.kext

Are you using WhateverGreen + agdpmod=pikera boot arg? This is required if you use WhateverGreen and boot only with the 6900XT. I haven't yet tested with a second GPU installed but I would imagine that the presence of the 6900XT means agdpmod=pikera is required then too. Another option is to...

    X299 Big Sur Support

My motherboard has 2 x onboard X550Ts (copper RJ45 ports), and I currently use one of them at 1Gbe and the other is not used. But I also have a PCIe X520 (SFP fibre port) which I use at 10GBe. That's the card that I did do the Linux ethtool patching on. All NICs are using the same SmallTree...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Ugh, not for me. I've got 5+ years of installed apps and preferences for those apps. I've not done a fresh install since El Capitan, and all three of my hacks are using the same installation - so I know all of them have the same apps, and are configured in the same way.

    X299 Big Sur Support

I've got patched SmallTree 3.8.6 drivers that work on standard Intel 10GBe NICs without requiring the Linux ethtool patching method. At least, works fine on my X550Ts. (Also works on my X520, but I'd already done the Linux patching on those.) Attached.

Yes, ConnectDrivers=false only affects OpenCore's ability to boot from HFS. Unless you have some ancient macOS install on HFS, in practice the only effect you're likely to notice is that you can't boot the macOS Installer, which is HFS. But once the OS is installed on APFS it can be booted, and...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

If the system shuts down 8-10 seconds after you start booting, and when it comes back you get a BIOS error (and if you check the BIOS, you'll see your RAM XMP is not applied, and any overclock settings you might have had are not applied) then that's definitely the BIOS boot bug. Most likely the...

I did wonder if he could maybe just download a reference MBA VBIOS and flash that? Though I don't know what's different about these binned cards - whether they have other BIOS tweaks and improvements that might be lost at the same time?
