Will This Build Work? (and a Few Other Questions)

Hi Your CPU choice looks good. Mobo: Do you want a microATx or mini thats a big difference between the two H55N-USB3: mini, USB 3, H55M-UD2H: micro , Firewire, more RAM slots (if need more than 8GB) Personally, id go for the UD2H more space to work with esp if want good video card(s)...

    My second build, graphics advice.

I have been pondering the same question, and from the looks of it , I would suggest going with the ATI Radeon 5770 or 5870 if its in your budget. Easy to setup with Mulitbeast now.

    Gigabyte 9800GT Silent Cell Flickering

That video card is used by many people on this forum and they just use GraphicsENabler=Yes to get it to work, maybe try that instead of using the NVenabler kext.

what do you think of this setup?

I think if you can afford it, get a 60-80gb SSD for your boot drive / applications. Just make sure it's a Sandforce 1200 based chipset, which does low level garbage collection independent of the OS to maximize longevity. I like the OCZ Vertex 2 & Corsair Force series. I will be adding one of...

    Optimal Mid-Range CS5 and Gaming Build(2010/2011)

While SSDs will make you system run a bit faster, they can also have a few issues. Most notably, OSX does not have native "garbage collectio" support for SSDs, which means you'll have to run some periodic maintainance, or risk a severe risk of life span for your SSD. Actually using a SSD is...

    advice on cheap build

Your build looks great, should work well. For RAM i would suggest the low profile G.Skill ECO Ram, see my sig for details, it works great and is easy to add beefier CPU cooler if you want to.

    Cheap graphic card

Well if you read the forums regulary you will see that ATI support is increasing and probably will have native support for all the 4 / 5 series cards when SL 10.6.5 is released I don't think you need a fancy card for what you were wanting to do but Nvidia still seems more compatible for now.

    GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 vs. GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2

I would go with the P55M-UD2 thats what I'm using and it works great only kext for audio which is easy w multibeast. It has esata & firewire which is great for Mac video editing applications. I'm using FCP 7.0 for HD editing and works great. I would also DEFINITELY recommend getting a better...
