[GUIDE] Remove extra Clover BIOS boot entries & prevent further problems

I had the same problem on a Hackintosh with a Gigabyte H110M-S2HP. The setup on this Hackintosh is extremely simple, only one SSD with only macOS Sierra and matching recovery partition. And yet, I was still getting new entries. After spending a few hours on this, trying a lot of the suggestions...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for 10.9.5 (334.01.03)

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for 10.9.5 (334.01.03f01) Drivers worked fine for me (on 10.9.5 Mavericks with a GTX670). That is until I installed the latest security update from Apple over the weekend. Now the NVIDIA drivers say they're not compatible any more, but there doesn't...

    What does com.tonymacx86.InstallHelper do?

MacMan, any chance you could be more specific about what the install helper does? And can we remove this once MultiBeast has run?

    No GPU Power Managment

Yes, it worked with my 670. See my post in the other thread: http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/122777-fix-opencl-crash-gk110b-based-cards-5.html#post751819 Apps continue to work. OpenCL code can be run on the CPU or on the GPU. Running OpenCL code on the GPU seems to be responsible for...

Fix for OpenCL crash with GK110B based cards

The reality is probably not as clear-cut as you make it sound. Both, GPU and CPU, have their advantages and disadvantages when it comes to running OpenCL code. See: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9205915/opencl-cpu-device-vs-gpu-device Even if we assume that applications can choose where...

Fix for OpenCL crash with GK110B based cards

Just to confirm: this patch fixes the GPU clock ramp-down for a GTX 670 (GK104) card. In the screenshot I've circled the GPU frequency change when opening a picture in Preview. Without the patch my card was stuck at about 1GHz after closing Preview, now it returns to 324MHz as it should. You can...

    No GPU Power Managment

It's probably fair to say that we've now established that the Mavericks problem with the GPU not clocking down is not related to AGPM kext. On the one hand we have reports (like the one quoted here) saying that AGPM loads and activates but the GPU doesn't clock down. I can confirm that for my...

    No GPU Power Managment

The plist file is not directly in the AGPM.kext directory, it is in a subdirectory called Contents. That's the same for every bundle on OS X. When you are in a directory with Terminal, try "ls -la" to see what files are there, and look around a little bit. ;-)

ML: Native Ivy Bridge CPU and GPU Power Management

Maybe the two last bullet points of my post #573 in this thread help you. I have a discrete GPU but I do explain how to make the edits you're after. Wasn't obvious at first to me either.

ML: Native Ivy Bridge CPU and GPU Power Management

Thanks for this fantastic thread and, in particular, your patience, Toleda. Much appreciated. After some fiddling I now got power management working as far as I think it's possible. In the hope that I can give something back to this discussion here are some gotchas that I ran into, plus the...

Please help the new guy on the block / GA-Z77X-UP5 TH

My system has the same board and CPU. I'm using a Corsair H60 cooler, which I mounted so that a single fan blows air through the radiator out of the case. That is, warm air from inside the case is blown over the radiator, which isn't the best solution from a cooling perspective. I had reasons to...

IMPORTANT Darkwake=0 Flag can break auto-sleep in 10.8.1!

What makes you say that 1 is the default? From looking at the source code I get the impression that 11 is the default. I've described this in detail further up.

IMPORTANT Darkwake=0 Flag can break auto-sleep in 10.8.1!

Back in front of my Hackintosh I've tried my theory from the comment above. It turns out that the right value for darkwake on my board is darkwake=10. This corresponds to these flags: kDarkWakeFlagHIDTickleLate = 0x02, // hid tickle after gfx suppression kDarkWakeFlagIgnoreDiskIOAlways...

IMPORTANT Darkwake=0 Flag can break auto-sleep in 10.8.1!

Reading the older threads and documentation it seems that the default for darkwake is that it is on. It looks like you have to turn it off explicitly. To answer the question as to what is really needed to turn it off I looked at the Chimera source code. Interestingly, there is no mention of...

How to compile the code of Chimera?.

I'm in a similar position. I got the latest source from the Release branch (rev 2050). When I tried to compile it on Mountain Lion with Xcode 4.4.1 (4F1003) I ran into the same problem as ApexDE; the "md" command that the make process wants doesn't seem to be included with Xcode anymore. I...

Gigabyte's Thunderbolt Motherboards Live - Available Soon

Comparison of Gigabyte Ivy Bridge boards

Regarding the USB ports on the UD3H and the UP4 TH: these boards use a Via VL800 chip and several people have said that this chip doesn't work in OS X. (Search for "VL800" on this site.) My understanding is that it's unlikely that we can get this chip to work unless Apple writes a driver because...

    GA-Z77X-UP5 vs GA-Z77X-UP4 ??

The ports are an important factor. With the UP5 you get four more working USB3 ports, two more internal SATA3 ports, and a Firewire port (internal). Some people prefer the Intel Ethernet on the UP5 over the Realtek that is used on the UP4. I've written up a detailed comparison of the most...

Comparison of Gigabyte Ivy Bridge boards

The 5 best Gigabyte Ivy Bridge boards compared Now that both Ivy Bridge and Mountain Lion are out it looks like a lot of people will be building a new Hackintosh. I'm one of them by the way. A key choice in any build is the motherboard, and for a number of reasons Gigabyte's boards have been...
