same problem with vega 64

Hi! my Vega 64 (Gigabyte, Silver edition) makes coil whine noises everytime something gets rendered on screen - so, everytime i do something, which is really annoying. gpu tach shows full load blinking. in windows 10 everything works fine, no coil whine, working gpu tach.. also, 144hz option...

with 18,2 and 18,3 my usb ports behave stupid. external usb drive show up as internal usb drives. bootarg to exclude ports doesn't work. usbinjectall.kext is loading. with 17,1 smbios all works as expected.

a special version of 10.12.5, 200 series support may come with 10.12.6 or higher.

this external gpu things makes me curious. and i'm really excited what hardware they'll put in the new mac pro, since the iMac pro really is high-end.. but non-upgradeable, so this is a bonus for the mac pro.

so amd basically announced that they will announce the vega cards that people actually will buy in 2 months.. an announcement for an announcement - why talking in the first place?? somehow i have a feeling vega is coming in Q4 :/

@Gigamaxx you discovered vega support in apple drivers right? have you checked them since device id's got leaked? i'm curious which vega cards need to be spoofed and which work oob.. can't wait till release xD

i am so hyped! rumors say that amd will talk tommorow on financal analyst day about vega in a live event. offical annoucement on 31th of may at computex..

have you updated your clover? does it work with igpu? 10.12.4 needs clover update

i asked lisa su if amd could work on 3rd party polaris/vega drivers for mac. this is what she replied. i didn't expect an answer. next goal after modular mac pro and pascal driver support would be official amd drivers right?

i think it is worth a try. with modular mac pros in the making, driver support is essential if you want customers to buy your stuff. nvidia owned this market, since it existed, died, and got revived by apples new plans. i will write an email to amd. i'm not expecting an answer, it will either...

this is exactly what i mean, they would never confirm any kind of support for any gpu that isn't officaly supported by apple. maybe i'm just too optimistic, but i don't believe nvidia would remove pascal code from cuda just because they don't support it officialy... sure, it won't work at the...

i don't know if someone mentioned this (this thread is long ^^) soo: what if we're asking nvidia the wrong question? i think they can't communicate some kind of pascal support in macOS, they are not doing it for maxwell or 7xx series card either, not even beta support. apple would go nuts if...

i think the latest nvidia gpu supported and used by apple is gk104 (gtx 780m) which is used in gtx 770. there was a time when gtx 780 required webdrivers (because of gk110), i don't know if that has changed. but gtx 760 is also gk104 so it should work OOB, but everything except reference cards...

good news! someone has opened a ticket on sourceforge regarding the black screen problem with newer amd cards in clover. (this is something we should have done a long time ago lol) since this problem doesn't exist on real mac pro's, i'm confident some clover devs will take care of this issue...

easy way would be to choose whatever apple supports oob.. which would be rx460 if you want newest hardware. if you're fine with id spoofing or webdrivers and arent aiming for the most compatible-easy-to-update-hackintosh you could go with any gpu you like, but since you didn't mentioned gaming...

could be a memory issue, solved this on several gigabyte boards with a bios update (beta bios, but stable)

yes, but on most monitors you have to switch manualy to displayport after boot or wait a long time until the monitor switches itself.. sleep depends on your hardwareconfig, i guess on skylake with enabled hd530 it won't work.. haswell and older shouldt be ok
