Hello everybody, I have a hackintosh running fine with macOS High Sierra 10.13.2. I have noticed when booting with -v boot flag that the system hangs several seconds (about 10) at a certain point, and after that the next line is "Warning: couldn't block sleep during cache update". I am assuming that this (the last message) is the reason for the delay and some help to remove it would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advice.

HelloCornelM98, I have a MacPro 5.1 from Apple whith only the original GT120 Graphics board and it behaves exactly the same. Still searching...If you finally found the solution would also be interested to know. Thanks.
I generally use it with another graphics board (NVIDIA 1070ti) but removed it to be sure... Does not change anything...

Same problem here too. But its not always like that, it comes up randomly.

It started after the upgrade to High Sierra. Fresh install didnt solve this issue.

Patch 1 solved my problem.

Booting runs like a charme now!

Fix for ICH10 with High Sierra. Now with hot-plug support.

For this we need two binary patches.

First patch fix I/O error for ICH10:
Code:
4585F60F 95C289C8 83E0FE66 85C9780F 84D2750B -> 89C883E0 FE6685C9 0F98C141 08CC9090 9090750B

With second patch for hot-plug:

Code:
89C82540 6002003D 40200000 750C81E1 BF7FFFFF 898B5101 0000 -> 90909090 90909090 90909090 90909090 90909090 90909090 9090

This is not my work...

This patch was found on insanelymac.com

Thanks for letting me now, I am happy that you got it working! This fixed my DVD reader which was not recognised, so thanks :lol: unfortunately the boot time did not improve, but I will update this post as soon as I find a fix.

EDIT: in verbose mode the message still persists, so the patch had no effect on the original problem for me (assuming I performed it properly).

How do you apply the patch? In Clover Configurator under KextsToPatch? I couldn't get that to work.

I applied the patch in the "kernel and kext patches", and the only change I saw was that the cd/dvd drive got recognised again (it used to work with other clean installations oob but for some reason it was not working in the current one).

Ok thanks, yeah it didn't work for me as well...
