I would like to add that this firewire card did the trick and my Duet is now stable and noise free. http://www.amazon.com/Syba-Profile-PCI-Express-Chipset-SD-PEX30009/dp/B002S53IG8/ref=pd_ybh_3?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20
I'm with you on this one. I hate standard mice, especially for audio editing and video games. I have two of the Logitech Marble Mouse http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-910-000806-Trackman-Marble-Mouse/dp/B001F42MKG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338348073&sr=1-1. They're inexpensive and...
I just saw your edit and see that this person suggests the very card I suggested to you. I wish I didn't have to move my GPU to get to that PCIe slot. I'm pretty sure the lower x16 slot only runs at x8...but I've also read that GPU's can't utilize the full x16 anyway. Can I get a confirmation...
Yep, pretty much all I could find was that TI chipset was best. I just ordered the 64 bit card, since I read that some people had problems with 64 bit Lion not recognizing 32 bit firewire cards. I will update to let you know how mine works.
For PCIe, this one looks great...
Just wanted to drop in and say that that TP Link card dropped right in and worked, no problem. Thanks for the advice :)
I wasn't ragging on your advice. After reading through the directions, I just decided I'd rather spend a little more to have something that worked OOB. It's nice to not...
I'm having issues with my Apogee Duet Firewire, and I've read that the built in firewire ports on most motherboards have problems with audio devices in OSX. I've been having difficulty finding relevant info on good PCI firewire cards out there and was wondering if there was a preferred model...
Forgive me, one more question. I'm not sure if I should install the regular or overclocked version. BIOS is still a confusing thing to me...I didn't actually manually change the speed, I think that it went from 3.5Ghz to 3.9 because I changed Turbo Boost to enabled, instead of auto. This was...
Hmmm...I'm unfamiliar with SSDT? I pretty much just installed the user DSDT through multibeast and left the rest of it alone. What is SSDT?
*My bad, just saw the link...let me read up
My system has been running stable for about a week and performs above my expectations. It's been able to handle everything I can throw at it without the CPU going over 50 Celsius.
With that said, I'm pretty surprised by my low geekbench score. Best I've managed is about 5800. This is in the...
My system had been stable for about two days before I plugged in my Apogee Duet (1) firewire interface. I started getting pretty random kernel panics, but never related to use of the device...it just started happening from that point on. I've probably had 4 or 5 today at seemingly unrelated...
Thanks for the response. For $45 on newegg, I can't pass up that one. Two reviewers said it worked out of the box in OSX. The first option looks to cost the same and involve more work, but thanks for the suggestion.
I put together my first build last night and WOW, it was a stunning success and everything is running great. The only thing I'm unhappy with is the speed of my USB wifi adapter. I'd like to get a PCI adapter, but I can't seem to find any info on which ones are compatible.
Sorry if this...
I have everything I need for my build besides my friggin motherboard and CPU. It's not going to be here until Tuesday. Anybody have any good ways to stop from going insane? hahaha
As far as I know, brand of SSD is not too important. I'm still new at this though, so don't take my word for it. I've just heard that, in general, HD choice is not TOO important, but there are exceptions.
I found an Adata 120GB SSD on Newegg for $104 and free shipping. Both this community and a few friends of mine have strongly suggested an SSD for an OS/App drive and I couldn't help myself at that price. If anyone is interested http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211588...
I just ordered the Corsair Obsidian Series 550D from Amazon. At $136, it's not much more than others without the sound dampening features. People seem to like it (besides cheap front door hinges) and it appears to be quite roomy. It also gives you the option to remove certain panels to add...
After some consideration, I decided to switch my case to the Corsair Obsidian Series 550D to further dampen the sound. It only had a few reviews on Amazon, but it looks pretty killer for just a few extra dollars. I will let you guys know what I think...
Well, at $99 and free shipping, I would consider it a pretty decent deal. I figured I might as well take advantage of my motherboards capabilities there for a few extra dollars. Also, I've heard the Caviar Blues are pretty quiet. I realize I probably can't drop this machine down to the db...
