finally got it all back up and running. checked out ssd with diskwarrior and it looks ok but going to play with it a little bit until I'm confident to use it as a boot disk again.
as far as fixing stuff goes I reinstalled everything and created a new profile with a fake name, and then brought...
owc 120gb ssd seems to be erasing every time there's a reboot. not sure why, but going to try the install with a hitachi 1tb spinner and see what happens
wonderful day of hiking help me to not pull out the hairs I have left. put the junk back in the box and actually got a bios screen. updated the bios to FF and updated settings to this guide:

and then tried notshy's bios settings

oh we are way way beyond kexts now. tried reinstalling and now my mobo won't even POST. Going on a hike today into a beautiful tropical valley with some crazy friends. Will try and forget until later.
tried to delete some stuff and it went freeze-o on the reboot. doing a fresh re-install now and hoping that the migration assistant will be able to save my stuff without importing the boogers.
I'm so glad there are no more snow leopard updates. I'm just going to stay with what I got until the...
oh jeez don't say that. Got a feature length doc on here that i'm working on. it's booting ok and everything seems to work but the sound. I guess I can just go through kexts one by one and figure out if i need them.
Re: accidentaly ran multibeast and restarted
I installed EVERY option in multibeast by accident, and now my S/L/E folder has 229 items. I'm sure they are not all supposed to be there, especially since I don't have an NVIDIA gp.
Deleted voodooHDA and AppleHDA and tried re-installing ALC8XXHDA...
Re: accidentaly ran multibeast and restarted
seems stable enough as is. Now if i could just get that fricken' audio working again. it teases me by popping the speakers on startup but still not recognizing the in/outs.
going through the same thing with the same mobo. Use iboot cd to start him up and delete the voodoohda kext. I actually had to delete mine using another machine cause mine wouldn't even start up with the disk!
Still trying to get the audio to work. Let me know if you figure that out first and...
Re: accidentaly ran multibeast and restarted
It's actually booting from the HD now and that's what the screen looks like. Had to double check just to make sure I'm not imagining things but the iboot cd is sitting on the desk and i've managed to boot from HD several times on it's own.
Re: accidentaly ran multibeast and restarted
here's a picture of my new boot screen. I hit return and it goes right into the grey apple screen, turns blue, and then goes to my desktop. The reason I named boot drive Snow Kitty is so that it's easier to tell which backups I'm working on...
Re: accidentaly ran multibeast and restarted
wow that took a while just to find the iboot disk. hiding in plain site.
iboot kp'd so I pulled the hard drive and hooked it up to my mini10v and deleted the voodoohda stuff, put it back in the tower, and it booted up. some of my system prefs got...
I was trying to figure out how to get audio working with 10.6.8 update and downloaded latest version of multibeast. Ran through the installation windows and got to the custom install screen and forgot that those aren't programs and installed everything and restarted. Now my computer shows the...
Re: final cut studio w/Aja Kona and hardware RAID
Yes rocketraid is software and wow I had no idea the 960 came down so much. Thanks for pointing that out.
I'm also guessing by the lack of response that the 5870 will leave plenty of room for other cards despite it's size.
Is there anything...
