Sorry for late reply! Didn't even occur to me to check that, I thought the slowness was before the boot of the HD, it's the UEFI BIOS image and Clover loading/scanning that's taking ages. But the HD is only about 50% used and I run Clean My Mac X regularly
Hi all,
After upgrading my hack to UEFI and Catalina it was booting pretty quickly but is getting slower and slower getting through BIOS and in to Clover. Should I be doing something to clear some sort of cache?
I'd like to keep this beast going as long as possible!
Thanks
OK it chooses prebooter on the first reboot, then on the second one I chose install from catalina - data and it's now got a progress bar with a time remaining so it looks like it's updating.
Thanks :)
Hi,
Just installed Catalina on my old hack with no problems (flashed to UEFI and followed the guide without anything else needed, only WiFi not working but I've not really tried to make it work).
I'm running 10.15.7 (19H15).
Today I have an update notification for a supplemental update...
I shorted the jumper in the end and since the BIOS would have to be reset anyway, I flashed it to UEFI. Happily, no problems apart from all the guides not mentioning the DOS command needed to run lol
Very weird and annoying problem since I couldn't set the boot priority in the BIOS to USB and...
Has anyone encountered this? I bought a second hand Gigabyte GTX 760 so I can run Catalina as my 660 has the 106 core. Plugged it in, and now I can't access BIOS settings. I can't seem to get to the install screen either now, whereas before I could do most of the installation.
I can however...
How about for Catalina, once I've got a compatible GPU? Will the Catalina MB default to the right definition? I'm just worried at some point my Sandy Bridge CPU is going to be incompatible with the definition MB sets for the later OS
I don't think I'll move to Big Sur until I do a new build, at which point I'll be happy to learn OpenCore and have the most compatible hardware for it to work as OOB as possible.
For the definition, do I just choose iMac 14,2 in Multibeast? It's been so long since my first install but I'm sure...
Hi,
I have an El Cap (4 years old probably) install on a PC I built 8 years ago, but there's so many apps that need at least 10.12 now I've got to update, but the High Sierra install app isn't available from the app store so it has to be Mojave so it might as well be Catalina. I'm happy to buy...
Oh balls. I was hoping it was the 104 or whatever it is. Where did you find that information, out of interest?
I'm also using legacy boot mode as I've not tried flashing the BIOS to UEFI, maybe that's why the volume isn't appearing in Clover... I did think Catalina might be a stretch on this...
Same problem here, Z68x-UDH3-B3 rev 1.0. Boot options available when booting from USB fine, albeit only on one monitor. What graphics card are you using?
i wasn't entirely sure about that haha, misleading information elsewhere...
also as i only want it to run logic, i've heard conflicting reports of how worth it upgrading to ML will be... however i might still do it for increased compatibility alone as i just can't get my wireless working on...
thanks for your replies, it wasn't that as I'd set the date to before the file expired. god knows what the problem was but it has kinda worked now.
now i just need to get my ati 5450 and wireless card or usb wireless router working!
