Hackintosh will survive. For at least 2-3 years, intel Macs will continue to be developed and sold. For at least 5-7 years, those Macs will continue to be supported by macOS revisions.
During that time, the PC industry will make their own transition to ARM based hardware, because (let’s face...
So, this does fix this problem with Radeon RX580 Sapphire cards that I too had been experiencing.
Is there a plan for further development of this dummy.kext, to also address the other issues of video playback?
With a Radeon RX 580 card, there is no concern about Nvidia drivers -- replacing my Nvidia card with a Radeon RX 580 was the best decision ever, and it paid off grandiosely in the Mojave upgrade.
Truly, the easiest upgrade so far.
- Upgrade Clover
- make sure all kexts are upgraded to latest...
I think Corinth's issue might be that he has the NITRO version of the Sapphire, while the supported model is the PULSE.
Then again, I have another friend where I installed an RX560 from MSI, and it's working very well.
Seems consistent with High Sierra installations.
I have the same issue, and I installed csmVideoDXE (an option under 'install drivers' in Clover) and set the resolution to 4K in the 'GUI' settings.
This DID provide the proper behavior during Clover Boot, but when it hit he second phase (after...
I'd like to add my positive experience in switching from an nVidia card, to the RX580 Saphire 8GB card - the desktop experience is like night and day, and performance in FCPX is like night and day different and improved.
Not sure what's going on with your system, Corint1, but I suspect either a...
All iMacs updated with KabyLake:

Macbook systems updated with KabyLake:

Seems like KabyLake is well supported by Apple.
I've created the USB disk as instructed, but when booting my HP Envy Touchsmart (J-series), it gives me the circle with the bar through it towards the end of the boot up thermometer.
Any tips?
That would be a problem for those of us that have a FUSION drive setup, as you can't just remove CoreStorage without wiping out the Fusion Drive.
Ugh. Time for a total backup and fresh install.
Sounds like this was some sort of issue of them rushing out the new motherboards before TB licensing was worked out for the current releases. I have no doubt later models of the MBs will include Thunderbolt again.
Seems like the Z270 motherboards will support Kaby Lake just fine, and there'll...
My next Hackintosh will probably be ASUS based - I want to try out the x299 platform and Kaby Lake, and ASUS seems like the only manufacture that actually includes Thunderbolt support in their initial offerings (Gigabyte seems to have dropped Thunderbolt in their initial releases).
As I explained earlier - the new iMacs will ship with regular Sierra, so whatever version of Sierra gets released with them, will have support for Kaby Lake built-in.
MacOS 10.12.x will have support for KabyLake CPUs -- seeing as how the new iMacs have KabyLake CPUs, and will ship with 10.12.x Sierra, whatever the next revision will be that supports the new hardware, probably 10.12.6 or 10.12.7.
Hypothetically, you ought to be able to upgrade to that...
