I have the same issues with mine, but I got it working for now with an external cabinet. "IcyBox USB Type-C Enclosure for M.2 NVMe SSD". It comes with two cables; one for Type-C and one for Type-A connector.
Only thing that apparently still occurs is that it says when I log on that the computer...

Sounds to me like you're having problems with the built-in graphics, as well as maybe BIOS settings..?
You need to add the HD 4000 graphics injector string before it can boot properly via HDMI or Thunderbolt-to-HDMI.
I use an AOC e2795Vh 27" via HDMI as my first monitor and then a Philips 42" LCD TV via Thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter for secondary view.
