    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

hey guys, is it only me, or the Fenvi card's Wifi stopped working again in 13.4 update? I was using CaseySJ's patch for 13.3. do we have to update it again for 13.4?

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi guys, It's been a while I wanted to post this for some contribution. I hope things have not changed a lot in recent automated scripts to update OC zips. I was trying to move away from as many Kexts as possible, that I don't need, to make the system more stable when updating the system...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hey guys, If anyone looking for upgrading to AMD 6000 series GPU, I just got mine today (Sapphire Pulse 6800XT), it worked with this build out of the box. I didn't need to change anything at all. (Used AMD config with 5500XT previously). Sleep works, HDR works. DRM with AMD KE works. I'm using...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Is it the instant wake problem? i.e., if you manually put it into sleep does it wake after 12 seconds or so? if yes, then check logs for pmset and see what is the reason. My guess is it’s wake up on usb issue. Does removing usb cable for Bluetooth fixes the issue? If all it is true then disable...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi, I just noticed that you need top section of the SSDT-UIAC-VISION-D-*.aml. The the section (USBX) about seems to set proper current for the ports and with this, I'm not getting turbo charging over USB-C ports. I have attached the modified AML below. Open this and V2 in MaciASL to see what I...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

the USBMap generated plist looks like this: The USB port can be disabled easily by commenting out "port" like is done with HS02 above. It's straightforward and easy if you use ProperTree, in case people don't want to edit XMLs directly like I do. It is equivalent to USBInjectAll which uses...

Those won't be displayed in the discovery section. But while creating the kext, it will show you all the ports. Here, you can toggle to enable/disable the ports you don't want by entering comma separated list like 2,14 etc. The last column here, may show you all port types as 3. You may need to...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

That means the USBMap isn't loaded correctly, if you remove that too, you will see the same list as all Internal. This is default how macOS picks ports automatically without any kexts. Which USBMap.kext are you using, did you create your own? Are you using iMac19,x or iMac20,x?

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

The things to look for are - in last column when you are Discovering ports using that tool, the port types are correctly displayed (when USBInjectAll and V2, XhciPortLimit are temporarily enabled), it will range from 0, 3, 9 and 255. But for some reason, when generating the kext, it picks up and...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

It is supposed to be created by the user. It is custom to every board. Here's the guide I followed: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/usb/intel-mapping/intel.html Most of the work can be handled by the script they referred in the guide. But still requires a bit of careful work of...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ I have attached the new USBMap.kext. Inside it, there's only Info.plist (and no executable binary) which can be either viewed in Text editor or any simple plist editor which other guides recommends. The best part is the ports can be commenting out the "port" keyword in the data...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ, I explored more. I have been able to generate a custom USBmap.kext which only has Info.plist inside it (and not executable code), and used that to enable USB ports. I disabled all SSDT-UIAC-VISION-D-V*.aml. and USBInjectAll.kext. The ports were still working. Having no extra code...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ, Quick question, with aim to improve the build. The first post mentioned that USBInjectAll is needed with iMac20,x. But according to dortania and GitHub README of USBInjectAll, the kext is temporarily used in order to enable all the ports and find the USB info and create a ACPI...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

I use rEFInd which boots into either OpenCore or Windows or any other Linux distros I have. Since it bypass OpenCore while booting into any other OS I can turn on any fancy features in Bios temporarily which doesn’t affect macOS at all. I also added scan policy which ignore Windows partition in...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Did you try a fresh install of macOS? Also did you try connecting the Ethernet to another router in case you have spare one lying around?

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hey Casey, I have intentionally disabled IntelMausi kext, since I only need one port. And I try to minimize number of kexts and patches for more stability. The Port is defined in DeviceProperties, so macOS will pick it up in System Information > PCI ports as "Ethernet Controller", with "Driver...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi, I can confirm that this method works on freshly installed Monterey. I made no changes to the config while installing macOS Monterey on external disk. Though, I installed Big Sur first and enrolled to PublicSeed using command line and upgraded to latest Public Beta. Ethernet works with...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi, You mentioned that BrightnessKeys is updated. In config, I see no reference to BrightnessKeys. May I ask how is this in use? Is there any link between other kexts and this? Or it's just remnant of older patches/workarounds. Cheers!

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi all, I can confirm this method works on Big Sur 11.4. Adding dk.e1000=0 to boot-args, and disabling all FakePCIID kexts, will enable Ethernet with correct driver AppleIntelI210Ethernet.kext The latter is correct. Summarizing the explanation from the issue tracker: What's changed in 11.4 is...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Quick question, to use Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit adapter do we have to have the Thunderbolt firmware flashed? I assume that should be important because macOS doesn’t support some features without it.
