I have the exact same problem... My mac is freezing, screen is on but I can't move my mouse. I think we should find the common thing we have to find the solution.
My exact config is :
Sapphire RX 580 PULSE OC, 8GB GDDR5

I disconnected all devices (I have just a mouse on one USB port). Freezes append when I am usuing Chrome with Itunes open, nothing more. On chrome, I am not playing any video. Really strange.
Is it maybe I activated Filevault and added somes UFI drivers ?
My mac OS version is : 10.14.6...

Mojave is actually installed on NVMe SSD M2M slot (closest to CPU), I have another SATA disk connected to SATA 0 (used for mac OS for copy), can I connect another SATA disk to SATA 1 and install Windows without any problem ?

Because I used this post to create my USB Install ...
This error is occurring when I click on "Boot macOS Install from Mojave" in step 2.
At Step 6 I tried with APFS or MacOS Extended (Journaled), nothing changed.
My USB drive is 32 Go.
I also tried to disconnect the second SSD drive and leave only the Samsung 970 EVO Plus.
