After a long uphill battle, I managed to get my install working again.
Turns out the B-Tree of my HDD (where I had my home folder) got corrupted, and this was preventing me to boot into the user.
I managed to fix it with the old and trusty disk warrior, but somehow some things got broken...
I managed to get it working by using this guide: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-gigabyte-designare-z390-thunderbolt-3-i7-9700k-amd-rx-580.316533/post-2250255
But I installed the 2.2 drivers. I have not managed to get bluetooth working yet though.
I've focused on backuping my corrupt...
Thanks @CaseySJ
I meant when I tried to save the config.plist file. I figured out what the error were. I think OpenCore Configurator checks online for error, but does so against the latest version of OpenCore.
I realised this a little while ago, and managed to boot just now with the OC 0.9.2...
I couldn't find a more recent fresh install for the Designare z390, so went with this one, which after a long battle ended up being installed on my fresh ssd!
I managed to get it to boot, but notice some random freezes and sometimes freeze at boot. I also noticed the fans on my Radeon Saphire...
I got the SN850XWD and got ready to install it in my machine.
I opened it up, removed the Graphic card to access the 2nd NVMe slot, and installed the new SSD in.
I then proceeded to reboot the machine, but to no avail. The DRAM led on the motherboard turns on and stays on...
I tried removing...
Because the sluggishness is becoming painful on my machine, I will embark on doing a clean install.
I'll take this opportunity to also upgrade my SSD drive to something with more storage and better (2TB or more). I currently have a Samsung Evo 970 500Gb.
From reading the thread here, it seems...
gm,
my build is starting to run a bit sluggishly, most probably from lots of updates and also, accepting a system update by mistake and not doing it the right way.
I'm thinking of doing a clean re-install. What would be the best way to go about it?
Especially with all the new stuff that came...
I updated to OC 0.7.5, and added the R6 SSDT file (as I have an R6).
After more testing, it seems like my UAD card isn't recognized anymore. It used to work straight out of the bat.
Any idea what could cause it?
I'm almost there after such a long hiatus.
@faithie999 That was it. I plugged the HDD containing my home folder to another port and it booted.
Will update to the latest opencore now.
thx so much evryone!!!
My home is indeed on another drive. Could it be that I plugged it on the wrong SATA port?
I don't have a spare drive at hand, but seeing I can get to the login screen makes me believe my hw config is ok.
Will try to plug it to different ports.
I managed to get the progress bar to display after toggling the Cfg to 1 and resetting the NVRAM from the open core boot menu.
Now I CAN see a progress bar, but it's not moving at all and stays empty.
I suspect it's hanging early on in the boot process.

Thanks for your reply.

Hello, long time since I visited this thread.
As per my previous posts, it seems my MB had indeed fried. It took 6 weeks to get it back repaired (although some stuff seems to be in a worse condition than when I sent it, some scratches and a screw for the SSDs missing). But that's something I'll...
They're asking for around 60€ for a diagnostic, the downside of living in an expensive country... But might be worth to try it though.
Still trying to weigh my options to go the best and least expensive route. I don't even know if you can actually repair an MB tbh...
Your'e a godsend. Will look into those.
I'm waiting on Gigabyte's answer as to how to deal with the warranty.
I definitely checked the used markets, but where I am it's almost non existent. And I'd rather not buy from over the border.
The Extreme is kinda over my budget. For a little more I...
So I've tested a new PSU unit & removed + re-installed all the components to see if something would boot.
It seems like the MB is the culprit, which is a pain. My vendor's warranty is worn out, so I'll most probably have to send the board to gigabyte and hope that they'll replace it. T_T
