I never could get my custom Mac to recognize my old time machine usb 3 disk. It was recognized under Ubuntu with no problem, but the volume just would never mount under the macOS, even after I fixed my ports using your excellent guide. I ended up erasing the drive and reformatting it losing all...
It worked! I reinstalled the port limit patches and the USBInjectall.kext and everything was smooth sailing from there on. The only problem I have now is that my USB Time Machine disk will mount, sort of. Actually, I can only see it in Disk Utility. It doesn't actually appear on the desktop or...
I have made some progress but I am not sure where to go from here. I'm attaching what I've got so far in the form of some images.
I have discovered lots of HS ports but only two SS ports and the SS ports that I have don't map to the corresponding HS ports. For this reason I have not been able...
This is what I need. This little bit of text pops up on the screen right after the gigabyte logo. When booting up. But it is absent on the drive that has Catalina. If I boot up my Mohave Drive and then switch to the Catalina Drive when I get to the clover window it boots up. How do I get this...
I should mention another thing, I've got Catalina on a Samsung EVO 970 Plus NVME SSD in an m2 slot updated to the latest firmware in Windows with the Samsung magician software.
I should also say that the disk with Catalina on it is a disk that I had a bootable clone of my Mojave drive on. I updated that with the Catalina app from the app store.
I have two drives on my Desktop machine, one has a successful installation of Mohave, the other has a new installation of Catalina.. If I select the Catalina Drive as my boot drive it gets to the apple boot screen and hangs up.. If I select my Mohave Drive to boot from and switch to the Catalina...
Anybody see anything wrong with my selections here for an MATX build? Particularly, is the 3000mhz memory and 9th gen i5 a good match for this motherboard?

Unless I learn something that helps me get to a solution under the Mac OS, I am going to get another disc up and running with windows 10 so that I can see if I can sort out my hardware problems, including getting my thunderbolt 3 card drivers installed
Problems with my motherboard forced me to resort to installing a PCI card with the hopes of getting some USB 3 Ports working. I installed one of the Inateck cards with fresco logic chips that is supposed to be compatible with the Mac OS. I installed the third-party USB controller kext...
Stymied again! The Alpine Ridge card requires installation of a Windows driver. I have Windows 7 on hard drive. I have never tested it with my current setup. I wonder if I won't have to create another disk with Windows 10 to get the Alpine Ridge card working. In the meantime I'm going to try the...
Thanks for the tip! I couldn't find an exact match for NFL 11000, but I did find other fresco logic cards that look like they might work. Like this one. And I would order it too, except that I've already ordered the Gigabyte Alpine Ridge thunderbolt three card.
Do you know of a PCI card to add USB three ports that would work here? If I can't find one I may have to get a thunderbolt adapter and see if I can run some new ports off of that.
I don't have any of those kexts on the new drive with the clean install. And I've actually gone backwards a little bit. Before the clean install, the drives would mount but the volumes would not. Now the drives won't mount and they they only appear as gray icons in disk utility. The ports work...
Since my last post, I have done a clean install of Mojave 10.14.4 on a new SSD in the hope that I could eliminate some unseen errors or corrupted files. Everything is still the same except that the USB ports now don't even mount drive devices, instead only showing the drives with gray icons...
