W10 broke my working High sierra install

Hmmm I do have a couple half-faulty HDDs laying about, I’ll give it a shot tonight. What difference does it make going external SATA?

W10 broke my working High sierra install

Funny enough I'm trying to make a new drive now, both as a preventative backup and so I can update clover to get bluetooth working on my apple WIFI card, but I'm having trouble with booting the USB's EFI Clover boots from the USB fine but there's no "Boot OSX from USB" option, just the usual...

W10 broke my working High sierra install

Tried all combos of the existing flags to no avail. I did however manage to make a dodgey installer that got me far enough to time machine restore it, leading my only guess to this as being the EFI somehow getting affected by w10 but I'll never know. I don't even know why i have -xcpm in there...

W10 broke my working High sierra install

Done that All twice over... Do you see anything telltale in the verbose pictures? My only other step is a square one reinstall which I’m highly uninterested in doing

W10 broke my working High sierra install

My god I’m an idiot, I thought I’d copied the post over when I noticed it belongs there

W10 broke my working High sierra install

TL;DR just in case this is common enough or there's another way around all this. I need to either time machine backup using terminal in the recovery partition (or any other way of getting my data back?) or fix this issue; Installing W10 on a different drive managed to break the OSX boot (It...

    [GUIDE] Intel i5 6500 + Asus H170 Pro Gaming + GTX 1060 6GB

Update: Realized I had to simply not install EmuVariableUefi-64.efi to the USB in the first place, I was deleting it after the first boot-to-installer phase (which unless it's a coincidence is odd because I thought all files other than Hsierra.app wouldn't affect the SSD until post-install...)...

Buying a touch screen laptop: Where do I begin?

As the title suggests I'm thinking of buying a touch laptop that will work well with OSX. The primary reason is to use it with a recording interface running mainstage so I can easily control things while performing live. I've seen a couple proof of concept-esk videos on youtube with varying...

    [GUIDE] Intel i5 6500 + Asus H170 Pro Gaming + GTX 1060 6GB

Edit: Ignore this, the problem I had magically went away after 4 hours of troubleshooting and eventually reverting back to the original config I seem to have a history of doing this with hackinshosh setups.... Edit: Oh, cock! Guess I’m not finishing an install in a single day... here’s hoping...

Can't show hidden entires on Clover Bootloader

Bumping this because I'm getting the same thing and would like to have a failsafe for hiding 'OSX recovery'

    Can't install windows

Tried a bunch of things, including realising I hadn't turned of USB handoff which got the keyboard working, but still had issues. Solved the issue in the end by trying with a friends copy *shrug*

    Can't install windows

I get to the language selection screen on windows 7 but the mouse/keyboard don't work I've tried every combination of ports -USB 2, 3, only booting with the keyboard in, booting then plugging in but nothing works My mb is EFI compatible so I've edited the files on the windows installer drive...

    Unibeast MBR format

I'm seeing that clover doesn't support MBR, but it doesn't see the drive unless I format it as such, and so far I've successfully installed it to the drive 2/3 times (albeit without it booting on the host PC) The heck is going on?

Budget GPUs compatible with OS X Mavericks

Of course i can't tell you what to put in your computer. Techincally the best card for $70 is the 240, but you can get a card that doesn't suck for $30 more

Budget GPUs compatible with OS X Mavericks

Hmmmm i certainly don't want to speak against tonymac but as a recommendation from 2011 it's a tad outdated and covers stuff that's hardware-supported as well as what's recommended; I don't doubt that in 2011 a 240 would have had a place in many systems (mainly small form factor and CPU's with...

Budget GPUs compatible with OS X Mavericks

Most of those cards are about as good as the built in graphics on your i3. The 'best' ones (read; only ones worth thinking about) are the R7 240 and GT 730 I'm not well versed on compatibility, but I do know that AMD is generally much harder to support than Nvidia. They should run with some...

    Is GPU passthrough possible?

Old post but nobody else has said anything and better late than never I guess Parallels is the best I know of (although I haven't had anything to do with virtualisation for a few years) and in my experience on my 2012 rmbp there was a performance hit in FPS and steady-running performance not to...

Which graphic card should I buy???

TL;DR there's no reports of pascal running on OSX -that is of course assuming someone hasn't written their own drivers and isn't telling us- and I think it will be something to wait for when Sierra is out and Pascal is a little more established Nvidia have never been quick to release next-gen...

My build thus far & some questions

Dude all MB's look to be much more expensive here D: I was so dissapointed when I realised Newegg hadn't translated the currency on a board that turned out to be $300 rather than $150 Originally I was looking at the Gigabit h170 d3h which is $55 cheaper but the ASUS has an edge with a couple of...
