Winnah, thanks for the tip. I ended up installing Lion (10.7) now my system boots all the way to the desktop with video. My next step now is to get HDMI enabled.

Randactyl, When using the integrated video, as you boot to the desktop does the video stay on? My screen goes blank. I have to press the power switch to make the system sleep then wake it up before the desktop reappears. Any thoughts?
