Mouse and keyboard freeze at random, but within 5 minutes of booting

Turns out plugging the external drives into USB 3.0 ports solved the WORST of my "freezing" problems, but there are still several times (at least 2) a week when everything freezes, and I can't move the cursor and I can't enter anything with the keyboard. All I can do is reboot. Could this be...

Mouse and keyboard freeze at random, but within 5 minutes of booting

I may have solved this problem. I had the (usb 3.0) external drive plugged into a usb 2.0/1.1 connector. Now that it's plugged into a 3.0/2.0 connector, my hackintosh is much happier!

Mouse and keyboard freeze at random, but within 5 minutes of booting

The title says it all. Yosemite was working fine, then I installed an SSD and attached a usb drive and set up time machine. Yesterday I installed Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC, and now my hackintosh won't even keep running long enough for me to get into Multibeast and enable TRIM and make sure...

    DVD Drive

Well the power connection wasn't loose, but I had connected the drive to the last connector on the cable, and nothing else was connected to that cable. When I connected the drive to the first connector on the cable, it started working. Thank you, Miles, for pointing me in the right direction...

Sound from speakers vs. from headphones

Not yet. According to the MB manual, their Windows driver UI allows you to select "Mute the rear output device when a front headphone plugged in", but of course I can't get to that driver on my Mac. Is VooDooHDA supposed to solve these kinds of issues? This is my first Hackintosh, so I'm a...

Sound from speakers vs. from headphones

I have a Gigabyte H87M-D3H motherboard, and I would like the speakers to mute whenever I plug in my headphones, but that doesn't happen. I would like it to work the way my Windows PC works. Is there a setting somewhere, BIOS or otherwise, that I can set?

    [SUCCESS] GA-H87M-D3H i5-4430 10.9.4 MB 6.4.2

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does "select kext-dev-mode=1" mean? (I'm a Windows native, so I haven't learned where any of this Apple stuff is located yet.) Thanks.

Graphics Card when cpu has graphics support?

I'm a newbie wrt Hackintosh builds, although I've built 2 Windows PCs successfully. I have an Intel i5 4670 and a Gigabyte H87M-D3H motherboard. The Intel CPU includes Intel HD Graphics 4600, whatever that is. Do I need a separate graphics card for this build? And can I expect to successfully...

Do I need a graphics card with an Intel i5-4670 CPU?

... and a Gigabyte H87M-D3H motherboard? The Intel CPU includes Intel HD Graphics 4600, whatever that is. And can I expect to successfully install Snow Leopard on it?
