Appreciate it. I decided to go for it.
During the upgrade I swapped my 1070 Ti for the "side grade" Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 Nitro+.
No issues with my two monitors, and I finally have H/W acceleration from the Vega for H.264-content, no luck with HEVC though; I had neither with the 1070 Ti...
Another question, I did a trial upgrade to 10.14.6 which went fairly well but noticed these messages fly by at boot:
Unsupported CPU
Unsupported CPU
Unsupported PCH
The boot continues to the desktop without any noticeable stall but the messages are new in the log compared to 10.12.6. I'm using...
Thank you!
So the lack of IGPU will not be a problem for me? If that's the case, that's good.
Will the dual monitor setup "just work"?
Can I keep my system definition MacPro6,1 or will that need to be altered?
Does the Vega 64 require Mojave or can I do some "does it work?"-testing before...
I'm considering switching over to an AMD GPU, more specifically the Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 Nitro+.
I am currently using a NVIDIA 1070 Ti (actually a FTW Ultra Silent Gaming 08G-P4-6678-KR, but that wasn't available for the sig).
I have two 2560x1440 monitors currently connected with DP.
My...
Thanks, just keep in mind that the latest 10.12.6-build is 16G1918. So 378.05.05.25f14 will not work on that, natively.
Nvidia will probably release an updated version after the weekend.
Thanks for letting us know hardcorefs.
Everyone else: take the above as a reminder why you should always wait a few days for Nvidia to release new compatible drivers before updating to the latest security update.
The security updates, like this one, have almost always made Nividia drivers fail...
This outcome is expected every single time you install a security update unless you wait for Nvidia to release an updated version of the driver, something which usually takes 1-5 days.
Did you put Lilu in both EFI/CLOVER/Kexts/Others & /System/Extensions?
I'm not sure about that; I would remove the one in /System/Extensions.
Do the same with Whatevergreen, if you installed it the same way.
I am guessing that KP happens really early in the boot process since it's devoid of...
Your HWSensors are too old and not compatible with your new Pascal-based GPU, you can fix that KP by replacing them with a newer version from here:
https://github.com/kozlek/HWSensors/releases
Put your old 780 back in temporarily and find where you installed the files (FakeSMC, CPUSensors...
Both monitors only work when CSM is disabled? Interesting, for me it's the reverse.
Anyway, primary monitor is typically decided by the video card. Here are two different threads on other websites with people discussing similar problems, albeit with Nvidia cards. In your case it's probably VGA...
There's an ongoing thread in in the forum that might be helpful, it contains compatible NICs and people's experiences with them.
So yes, a 10gbE card should work and should give you a higher transfer rate; assuming your NAS has support for it and the the drives involved (on your computer and in...
Link aggregation can benefit you if you have multiple clients accessing files on the NAS at the same time. In this case you typically set it up between the NAS and a strategically chosen switch.
From your description it sounds like may be connecting the NAS directly to your computer. If that's...
Apologies for not reading your first post properly.
I don't have anything else to suggest but I did find another thread in the forum describing a similar problem with incorrectly reported RAM (different amounts however). What's curious is that it involves the same motherboard. No resolution...
