    it's quite annoying, I've been annoyed by this as well. i'm using asus h97m-plus and have tried using the different sata ports to no avail. more annoyingly, when I connect my external usb drives, they appear with the internal hard drive icon.

    I totally see your point. i'm currently booted to my windows ssd on the same rig. I loaded that same image I took, and it looks cruddy still. oddly, internet explorer and everything looks way better, but now under close scrutiny, I must admit the windows graphics aren't perfect either...
