Well, I've finally gotten iBoot to boot. What finally did it was disconnecting both hard drives. I don't have time now, but I am hoping that connecting only the drive with SL on it will also allow iBoot to work. At least it's progress!

I don't believe so. I've checked settings since I had the problem to see if there was anything that might be SL unfriendly. Still on AHCI, and nothing else that I can see is different.

Actually, the fundamental problem is that iBoot does not load at all, so even if I were to decide to reload SL, I'm a bit stuck. I can't think of anything that would cause this. Help?

I don't think so. I have to force it to boot from the CD. If I do nothing, it boots from the hard drive. I need to figure out how to get Chimera to the MBR, or equivalent, I think.

My setup is very similar to yours, and things went well (not even problem with safari) until I tried the 10.6.8 combo update. It KP'd after it was almost all the way through updating, and now KPs on boot. Any thoughts? I am using on board graphics, still, FWIW.
