Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

The Asus ITX board in my signature is worth a look. Lots and lots of other ways to go one being here. @NorthAmTransAm is using his setup at least partially for music production.

Thank you! invaluable info here. Going to try a similar build! Thank you!

Hello again. I've had no luck getting my Ethernet working... After finally having a bit of time to delve into it, I tried to get it going, to no avail. I even reverted to OpenCore 0.8.0 (from the 0.8.1 EFI that @StefanAM made me) and in the process I think I found out that the new config.plist entry named ForceAquantiaEthernet is what's making the system unstable (i.e. random "your computer restarted because of a problem" when value set to True). So, I think I'll have to settle for the Wi-Fi solution for my internet needs when in Mac on my system (it's still the BCM94360NG m.2 I hope, that's what I'm ordering right now).
@StefanAM When that arrives, can I ask for advice about how to get it working?

So my question I guess is, what recommendations for:
1. GPU (cheaper better as I don't care about graphics if i can use Thunderbolt/USB-C to HDMI.
2. Which MB's are Thunderbolt/USB-C to HDMI friendly?
3. Is DDR5 boards even worth it? Will I have more success with Alder Lake on DDR4?
* prefer smaller boards over bigger but also don't mind paying more for premium components like Thunderbolt 4, etc.
If you need reliable Thunderbolt for audio work, it's still best to stick with Titan Ridge and TB3, not Maple Ridge and TB4. On Z690, that means a Titan Ridge AIC in a PCIe slot… and drives away from mini-ITX.
If GPU performance is not required, consider a 10th generation build on Z490, using the iGPU. There were mini-ITX boards with on-board Titan Ridge.

I got the Wi-Fi card, had quite the adventure installing it (had to remove the motherboard and open the ports cover to get to the Wi-Fi card tray - a blast, truly… NOT!), but I can report everything is working fine now and I finally have Internet again!

This central model with the new Intel logotype is a fresh model with the AVX-512 instructions turned off.

In text form:

Reminder: Using P and E cores, as most Z690 users do since last December and the AlderLake-aware ProvideCurrentCpuInfo quirk, disables AVX-512 anyway.
Unless you have a very specific workflow with a specific software which highly benefits from AVX-512 and/or require the absolute best single core performance, it's best to enable all cores for best multi core performance and not worry about AVX-512.

Need help from MSI Z690 mobo owners.
Could anybody check Monterey on last BIOS, 7D25v14?
I have trouble: the system is loading and working, but Monterey installer (from flash) or Recovery shows grey screen with mouse cursor only.

Take a look at this post. At the bottom under updates- "Change prev-lang:kbd in NVRAM section to type DATA"
This might be what you're experiencing.
