[Success] GIGABYTE Z370 Gaming 7 + Intel Core i7-8700K + RX 580 + (2x) Dell P2715Q 4k @ 60Hz

You are welcome.
When you update the macOS to a newer Version you have to update this patch accordingly.

Is the only issue I have left, too. My idea was to try and make my own custom SSDT and see if that fixes things.

@jb007 Which Bios version are you using (F6 or F7) and you don't have this issue with an external drive attached to one of the USB ports?
I read that if you take someone else's custom SSDT and the BIOS Version of the motherboards differ, that this might cause some issues.
Anyway I'll try to make my own and use @jb007 SSDT as reference.

@SebErr I'm one the latest - F7 BIOS.

@SebErr and @borob120 I tend not to use external drives, but for a experiment and I removed one of my SSD's and tried sleep with it plugged in. Yep, I'm getting the dreaded 'Disk Not Ejected Properly' message upon rebooting.

With a bit of further investigation, I have found that this is a problem for Mac users as well as Hackintosh users alike. There is a few scripts that are on various forums including this one that purport to fix this issue, but an elegant solution that has worked all day for me is an app called 'Jettison'. It has a free trial, and only costs $7.95 Australian dollars. I like to keep things simple and this app has been around since 2011(?) so it's quite mature, so I bought it. No problems now!

I've also nearly finished documenting the SSDT for the USB, but I discovered while testing today that I was wrong to say you don't need this. You do need to use the PMHeart patch for 10.13.6 to open up all 26 USB ports. So if you haven't already, include this in the KextsToPatch section of your Clover config.plist, do so:

Code:
Name: com.apple.driver.usb.AppleUSBXHCI
Find: 837D880F 0F83A704 0000
Replace: 837D880F 90909090 9090
Comment: USB 10.13.6+ by PMHeart
MatchOS: 10.13.x

I've ordered a Gigabyte Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt 3 Version 2 card today. I'll report back later next week when it arrives. I don't have any TB3 devices ATM, but will eventually be buying an eGPU enclosure, but I guess I can see if it can talk to my USB devices until then.

Lastly if you are after the USB 3.1 Gen 2 USB cable, type this into eBay or Amazon etc... '0.5m USB3.1 Front Panel Header Type-E to USB-C Type-C Female Extension Cord Wire'. Very cheap, and will give you another 10Mbit USB 3.1 Gen 2 port.

Yes from what I read, you don't need the patch once you have your custom SSDT. The question was more directed to @borbo120

For the moment I am using the USBInjectall.kext with the 10.13.6 patch by PMHeart. This works fine for me and the USB3 ports recognise my external drives. The only issue I have, is that once the system gets back up from "Sleep", it ejects the external drives not properly.
I hope to solve this issue with the SSDT.

See my post #462 for an update on drives being ejected upon wake from sleep, and also the use of the PMHeart 10.13.6+ patch.

Thanks for the update!

My case (Fractal Define R6) has the option to upgrade the front panel to a version with USB 3.1 GEN 2 (Type C), so I could use the internal port for this upgrade in the future. However at the moment I don't have any peripherals that would need this connection.

Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for taking the time to post this and "give back". I created my Hacintosh successfully earlier in the year and could not have done it without great information like this post. I've been wondering how the new 6/12 core CPUs would work for Hacintosh's.... good to see one up and running. Appreciate the time to document and share this info. Bravo to you sir.

My Hack crashed hard. Unrecoverable hard, as in not boot from my CCC backup - which was the first thing I did when I got it to boot the first time after MultiBeast. Starting over. Anyway, about Thunderbolt, I just made these for you. I'm assuming nothing about what you already know, so pardon the arrows, etc.

Hi @jiffyslot and others, I finally got my Thunderbolt 3 Alpine Ridge card today. Had no real troubles with it. I don't have any TB3 devices ATM, but it does recognize a USB 3.1 Gen 1 SSD, an USB external Sound Card.

I'm now saving for an external eGPU/Docking station and second GPU card, ( I sold my 2nd RX 580 to make way for the 10GBe Ethernet and the TB3 card), that has to be able to take a GPU card that is 2.2-2.5 slot widths recommendations?

Also I have fixed my slow boot. It now boots in around 13 seconds from Clover to the login. I rebuilt my boot Samsung 960 Pro NVMe drive with Mac OS Extended (Journaled) rather than the APFS file system. The reason I went this way is I discovered in the debug files that it was taking 39 seconds for a APFS command of some sort (I can't remember what ATM). So after rebuilding and applying Trim, all is well again. Bonus is I can see the macOS drives from Windows ( I have a utility there) and also from Linux.

As an added bonus I also received my 16GB of RAM for my QNAP TS-453be 4GB NAS. QNAP says you can't go above 8GB, but as per this YouTube video, they don't tell the truth! Works very well now.

Thanks for your info on the TB 3 stuff, much appreciated!:headbang:

I don't any any of these components but am looking to build one and have been looking at this site for a long time now. This build and the way it has been presented is by far the best I have ever seen. The detail is amazing and the pictures are great. Everything is well placed and this should be the standard going forward for all posts from now on! Great job on your build and being super professional.

Hey thanks, man. Glad my build guide works for you!

Hi @JimmakoS, how's your keyboard going?
My son has fallen in love with my Corsair K95 Platinum keyboard and Glaive mouse, so I'm gifting him them for his birthday. So I'm now on the look out for a mechanical keyboard that has the 'Mac' keys and also has native software for the macOS and also Windows.

Could you let us know if you are happy with this keyboard?

Jim
