Never take a memory-stick into the pub! Ever.

My point is only that in theory the hardware is more reliable nowadays than the other formats. Any storage can be physically damaged. The only really, really vital document types that I would hate to lose and which couldn't be replaced easily enough, are family photos. So I'm probably going to explore an M-Disk or two for those

I have my photo's backed up on a local NAS(in original format), on off site HD's(in original format), and on Flickr(compressed).

On a related note:

I just recently tried making a clone of my HS APFS system drive with Acronis True Image. It's amazingly Mac friendly these days and worked perfectly. It even backs up the EFI partition so the cloned drive is immediately bootable with no effort on your part.
