Hi jonz,

I can only speak for myself, but the USB fix and with it the uia_exclude was ESSENTIAL. It fixed a lot of issues in my build. So, yes... I highly recommend it!

Best
Michael

Hi @mikampe,

Thanks for your feedback.

I added the Maximus Hero VIII SSDT-USB.aml that I foud on the appendix of the #1 post of https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/10-11-0-10-11-3-skylake-starter-guide.179221/ and excluded 6 ports that weren't in use.

Here the layout that I found for the rear pannel and case ports (Corsair Carbide 600Q) :

Did you removed the USBInjectAll.kext ?

No, don't remove it. Just remove the 15 port limit patch after you've reduced the port count to 15 or less in your config.plist using uia_exclude.

Hi Stork, hi pastrychef,

did you ever heard about it, that the TRIM enable command in 10.11.6 disables the sleep function of the system? During my forum browsing, I found (for my first time) the TRIM "thing. So I thought....hey, why not. If it´s good for the SSD... can´t be bad for me, right?!?

DAMN WRONG. The "going to sleep" was history on my build. So, disabling it and voila ...its back.

Odd

Enabling Trim should not affect sleep.

At least some SSD manufacturers recommend disabling "Put hard disks to sleep when possible".

The reason why this is recommended is because the built-in garbage collection of most (all?) SSDs happen during periods if inactivity. Trim and built-in garbage collection both help an SSD stay healthy.

Hi pastrychef,

thank you very much for your response. This window, although mine has much less options to dis/enable, is totally unchecked. When Trim is enabled, the screen went dark and thats it. No sleep initiate, nothing. only back. When I click the mouse or a button on the keyboard it switches back on as if nothing happens.
My SSD is the Samsung SM951 256 GB 256GB AHCI.

I don't know what can cause that. Have you checked pmset to see what's keeping it awake?

Yeah, it doesn't look like it has anything to do with Trim.

The Apple support forum is a good place to try and find fixes for something like this. I've never personally encountered it.
