[GUIDE] El Capitan on the GA-Z170X-UD3

Quick note to say that following this guide on a clean system worked extremely well, and thank you cnrd for putting the guide together, and supporting it so well. I haven't had time to test everything, but I haven't found anything to not work yet. I'm using the Intel 530 IGFX waiting on Pascal support for an nVidia 1060 card.

One note is that I had trouble reaching the OS X El Capitan installer GUI when my monitor was connected to the VGA port. I added the Intel 530 fixes via Clover Configurator to the config.plist (turned on inject intel, and added the device id fix), and used the DVI port, and reached the installer GUI. Folks say that VGA isn't supported by OS X, but on my previous Hackintosh running El Capitan it was.

Holding off on Sierra due to the 530 issues. Hoping that we get Pascal support soon. I want to connect a second monitor via DP to my Apple 23" HD display, which sounds like it will present it's own set of challenges: need a dongle (female DP to male HDMI) and need to read through the info at https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...grated-graphics-working-as-of-10-11-4.188891/.

I know cnrd has revised the guide several times and is no longer supporting the El Cap guide, but I feel the part about generating the SSDT.aml via ssdtPRGen.sh is unclear. By trial and error I was able to finally get an SSDT.aml generated, but the guide isn't clear that it needs to be put in the acpi/patched directory in the EFI. Nothing against cnrd, this may be obvious to some but not obvious to others, just trying to fill in the gaps.

Having some issues, maybe someone can help me. I am using a Macbook with Snow Leopard, so there are some programs I can´t use (Unibeast, Clover Configurator...).

My Configuration:
  • BIOS F6
  • Core i3-6100
  • 2x 8 GB DDR4 2400 MHz RAM (16GB) (Crucial Ballistix Sport)
  • Intel HD530
  • Using normal HDD (Samsung...)
  • OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan
Folllowed the guide (many thanks cnrd), with the following differences:
- created bootable USB drive manually, opening the InstallESD.dmg, etc , following the instructions here
- configured usb ports as per guide (script doesn´t work correctly on Core Duo (32 bit)!)
- changes to config.plist: Graphics Inject Intel true

Problem: can´t reach installer. Message I get is:

OsXAptioFix2Drv: Starting ovverrides for System.....
Using reloc block: no, hibernate wake: no
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It stops there, sometimes it reboots...

Things I have tried:
- using different USB port, changing SATA connector for HDD, disconnected everything not necessary
- tried with (separately) OsXAptioFix2Drv, OsXAptioFixDrv, OsXAptioFixDrv Low Mem, OSXAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi, Test2-2016.efi + OsxAptioFixDrv

Help is appreciated :)

EDIT: problem seemed to be wrong version of El Capitan (<10.11.4) and wrong generated USB port config files. Anymay I´m on Sierra now.

I followed cnrd's instructions from first page, but stuck at prohibited sign.

Any suggestions?

Sure seems like a video card issue. You seem to be on an nVidia card (GTX 650 Ti) - did you try the nv_disable flag from the clover options when you booted from the installer USB? Alternatively, disable/remove the GTX card (disable it in the BIOS, or physically remove it) and try connecting a monitor to the DVI-D output on the internal GPU and make sure to config for IGFX in clover (what worked for me was inject intel = yes, inject the graphics device id 0x19120000, and apply the 4 ports patch, all from the tonymacx thread on how the 530 works in El Capitan 10.11.4)

Thank you for response. I got it working. It was USB problem, can't found proper boot drive. Solved by adding proper usb .aml.

As a follow-up to my earlier post, I have dual monitors working now on the internal Intel 530 GPU, running 10.11.6 and having followed this guide to install El Capitan.

1. Apply the inject intel = yes, ig-platform-id = 0x19120000, and 4 port patch from post #1 from this thread Skylake Intel HD 530 Integrated Graphics Working as of 10.11.4
2. This board has DVI, HDMI and VGA; apply two patches in the Graphics tab of Clover Configurator to force port 5 to be HDMI and port 6 to be DVI:

3. If you are using MacPro 6,1, iMac 17,1 or iMac 17,2 SMBIOS (as I am), apply the AGDPFix.app from post #1 of Black Screen with MacPro 6,1 or iMac 15 or iMac 17 System Definition
4. Reboot with one monitor connected and connect/power up the second monitor at desktop. Try with different first monitor powered on until it works.

Hi all. 6 month ago i followed this guide and mounted my hackin, working nice.
But some weeks ago my mobo goes dead and the shop replaced me with another in warranty.
So, i mounted all again, with the same cables on the same connectors, and set up the bios with the options of the guide, but when the system starts, always i get prohibited sign.

When i boot in verbose mode, the screen stucks in diferent lines every time...... I attach screens.....

What can be wrong, if the unique thing changed was the mobo, and i set up the config required? Maybe something is changed in the guide? Id anyone can help me i appreciate, thanks.

I tried to remove the WiFi card, and the video card (enabling integrated on bios, and tried to check inject Intel in clover, removing nvd_drv 1 boot Flag etc... ) without luck.

aol, do you have a flicker at the top of the screen, connected to the DVI?
Are the both monitors work after reboot?

There is no discernible flicker, but I'm still on el cap, not Sierra, AFAIK there will be flicker if I upgrade to Sierra so I'm not going to do that. Waiting for Pascal support for the 1060 I have sitting in a box next to my computer. Fingers crossed.

In order to reboot, I turn off the DVI monitor, and reboot with only the HDMI monitor on. Once I hit the desktop I turn on the DVI monitor and both work. (If I do it the other way around, DVI first then HDMI, the DVI monitor goes black and the HDMI can't be turned off or it won't come back up)

Hi, today i discovered a new thing.... I see, in verbose mode, when the system shows the prohibited signs, all the info text show crappy, and always always add a final line, i can read

"Waiting for root device "

I tried changing the sata por of my os x installed HD. Safe mode, with out caches..... I try to boot trough a install media usb with clover and, the say always the same...... :/
