SOLVED!! I was missing an Apple update apparently. Once I applied it and restarted it booted directly to the HDD at a full 1920x1200 at full speed.

Thanks! I'm building almost the same system using internal graphics only with 8GB of Kingston HyperX 1600 (2x4GB) installed and the "GraphicsEnabler=No" was the only thing missing stopping my first good boot. Just sharing in case someone else searches and finds this thread like I did.

Thanks! It was the AHCI setting for me in the BIOS. Hard to believe a brand new Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 would come with a default setting of IDE, but it did.
