770 is a solid card. Fastest GK104 made, but if I could swing it I'd do everything I could to get that GK110 chip. They still carry a bigger price tag since Maxwell hasn't shown up yet, but if I could wait I would. We've got a few goodies coming out this summer. The 780 is a 1080p gaming monster...
The NUC or mini PC seems like the way to go for a HTPC and Steam streaming box. There's an interesting testing thread on Steams discussion page where a beta tester seems to get 1080p@60fps on a NUC for most titles. They can handle the decoding no problem, only thing that holds back from a total...
If you're interested in getting into overclocking, I'd wait and get the new haswell refresh. Look up i7-4790k "devils canyon". I'm dumping my 4770k for that since they'll be using a new TIM that should let us reach 5Ghz overclocks. It's rumored to launch June 2nd. Not sure what your budget is...
With the news of Steam streaming going live today it made me want to look into building a client system for the living room. Being able to stream games from Windows to a Mac in the living room sounds awesome. I wanted to get some recommendations for a living room Mac. From what I've read about...
I've searched through this site and found a lot of methods for getting rid of the pesky System Reserved partition or renaming it, but after I did a bit of looking around I dug up some really easy guides and figured I'd post a one stop shop for anyone looking to have a clean look to their dual...
Yes it's in the plist and this was a clean install to Mavericks from 10.8.5. I remember having to add it after I installed 10.8.5, but it was included when I ran multi beast 6.0 for 10.9. Here's what I've got. Thanks for helping me troubleshoot.

Hey WW. Thanks for updating the thread for 10.9. Everything went smooth. Only thing I can't get working is the Airplay Mirroring and I'm sure it's because I can't get the intel 4600 graphics to play nice with the GTX760. I tried following the process you had where you remove the graphic card and...
Gains of haswell over ivy are minimal, but biggest increase is in integrated graphics. I'd say go for a haswell. About the same price and so far mine is 100%. I'd search the golden builds and pick a system that suits you the best.
wildwillow's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC - i7-4770K - HD4600+GT 640
Hey wildwillow. Awesome build description, it helped me a ton when I was having issues. I've got almost the same hardware except I have a gtx 760 installed. I had startup working flawlessly, but ran multibeast 5.5 to get the...

Thanks that's great news. Been driving myself crazy trying to find a fix on this board, but if new multibeast has the fix it can wait.
For some reason, installing and setup does not like graphic cards. Removed it, installed OSX, ran multibeast, updated to Chimera 2.2, edited plist to include IGPEnabler Yes and boots without a hitch.
Decided to do a fresh install using the new unibeast 2.1 when I saw it went up this morning. Install went fine, but even after running the most recent multibeast I still can't get to the desktop without having to enter GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 -x every time I startup. I double checked all...
Awesome. Thank you Charlie. It's getting late so I'll re-attack tomorrow afternoon
I've got a dual boot machine and figured I'd paste instructions here for anyone looking to get rid of the pesky Windows NTFS drive that appears at the Chimera boot selection screen. Thanks to "Going Bald" for...
