Editing AGPM to prevent GTX4XX Freeze

Yes you need to get rid of AppleTyMCEDriver.kext from S/L/E and then load AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext. You can also add your device id(see beginning of thread or viewtopic.php?f=15&t=13524) to AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext under the MacPro4,1 section. BTW with the release of the...

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update - The Official Thread

Get into your system(use 9800GTX) and add this line to your com.apple.boot.plist file in /Extra, <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>npci=0x2000</string>. If there is already a value in Kernal Flags just add the npci=0x2000 to it leaving a space between the two. The run something like Kext Utility...

getting proper OpenGL performance from 470 GTX?

Have a look at your smbios.plist in /Extra, that will tell you what profile you are using.

    Reverting NVIDIA 256.02.05f01 MultiBeast Installation?

You should really have removed all the Geforce + Nvidia kexts first in S/L/E before loading the backups. I would go into S/L/E and remove all the Geforce* and NVDA* kexts. Then I would load the kexts in your backup using Kext Utility or similar and let it do its thing.

    GTX470 and AppleGraphicsPowerManagement. OpenGL improvement

Got my GTX470 operational even if System Profiler does not recognise the card or its VRAM. I just get Unknown nVidia card with 0 VRAM. However it's running fine and these are my Novabench scores, very similar to your own.

    GTX470 and AppleGraphicsPowerManagement. OpenGL improvement

That result does not look too bad. I have a GTX470 but can't get it running properly with my setup in OS X. I am running a 9800GTX+: Looking at the score for my 9800GTX your GTX470 looks v.good.

I would try using VooDooHDA instead of AppleHDA.

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update - The Official Thread

Good idea. Is there a pattern developing as to what is causing ppl particular issues. One thing I've noticed is that some of the ppl who had a trouble free update(relatively speaking) are using ATI cards.

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update - The Official Thread

I dont think there is enough in this update to risk borking my system. Even if you do get it installed the pay off is minimal.

SOUND BLASTER X FI TITANIUM PCI EXPRESS CARD

Any info on how you faired with this. BTW if you are already using VoodooHDA.kext for your onboard sound(+ALC888Kext) do you need to delete the existing kexts first.

Almost right: help with ALC888 solution on Shuttle SH67H7

Sounds Good :) Although I still had an issue with the sizzeling noise everytime I rebooted. I then found that a setting in one of the kexts(S/L/E VooDooHDA.kext) had the setting "iGain" under "MixerValues" in the info.plist set to 90. I just edited this to 00. I can always increase this value...

Working nVidia, wanting to try ATI 4850

I had an ATI HD4850 running on my OS X and it ran fine. I used the ATY_INIT kexts to get it working. Have a look here http://netkas.org/?p=116. I am now running an Nvidia 9800GTX+ and while bot cards are similar as inn Graphical power the Nvidia runs fine with Luxmark wheras the ATI did not...
