Cool, thanks. I plan on dropping it into an Asus Z390-I but if they're really similar in terms of performance, I think I'll stick w/ the SATA version. Thanks again!
Hi! If I just want to use my corded Ethernet connection on my Hackintosh I'm about to build (and not wifi) do I still need to buy one of those tiny Apple-compatible wifi cards? If so, any idea which one works best w/ the Asus ROG STRIX Z390-I GAMING motherboard? Thanks!
I just realized I ordered a Samsung 860 PRO 512 (not a Plus) from https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07836C6YV/?tag=tonymacx86com-20 - but it's SATA III and not M2. Is M2 required for smoother operation, or am I ok with the SATA version as far as installing/day-to-day use?
Thanks!
Bummer on NVIDIA. :( I was _just_ looking into 5700 XT cards, thanks! I think I might go with one of those, but I'm not sure if I need one of the boxy-looking reference ones if I decide to water cool or what.
Any thoughts on trying Catalina w/ OpenCore + a Ryzen mobo/CPU vs the Z390-I/Intel...
I'm looking to build a stable dev/web/light video editing Catalina daily driver (so unfortunately no NVIDIA?) - trying to choose hardware that supports this while at the same time is decent for gaming AND will fit into an SFF enclosure (NCASE M1). It'd be great if someone could sanity check my...
Sorry I spoke too soon - it looks like MultiBeast might depend on the AppleHDA.kext existing... After I verified the kext was in /S/L/E, I once again re-ran MultiBeast, just installing the appropriate With-DSDT audio driver (889) and everything works now! Woo.
Hi again,
I just updated to 10.8.4 and lost audio... I was following the steps in the "lost audio" guide - I tried running MultiBeast with the settings in the screenshot earlier in the thread, but after rebooting I didn't see any AppleHDA or ALC* kexts in /S/L/E.
So I ran kextbeast with...
Woohoo!!! After another clean install, I used the attached simplified MultiBeast settings, and I have audio now!
I also turned on the "Azalea Codec" or whatever, in my BIOS settings. Here's a rundown of how my install went, in case it helps someone else out.
1) After installing ML on a...
Thanks, that link is a bit cryptic/hard to follow IMO, but I actually did read and try it out already. Is the basic gist to try using MultiBeast with ALC898 instead of 889? (I am using my appropriate DSDT).
Also, I updated my original post with a few more findings. Still no luck. :(
After searching a bunch here and trying several different MultiBeast 5.3.0 (Mountain Lion) configurations, AND even an additional clean install, I still have no audio / no audio devices on my Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-iSSD. I'm using the latest DSDT, DSDT-GA-Z68XP-UD3-iSSD-F10.aml.
Audio worked fine...
Reason I don't use the lynx2mac driver is because it randomly loses internet connectivity inside my VMWare Fusion OS. (Windows XP) :( the Realtek driver has been pretty solid for me.
