Fwiw, I have had a non-crashing problem with some other software that led me to run sysdiagnose. I found that sysdiagnose also crashes my system reliably every time. It takes a few seconds of running it before I'm returned to the BIOS screen.
Thanks, @ammulder, that gives me a little more confidence it might work.
I don’t know how the NUC5i7 compares to a Z87 Haswell setup. It looks like the NUC is 5th generation, vs 4th for the Z87/Haswell.
I’m looking at adding an SSD to my Hackintosh system. Has anyone gotten the Kingston Digital HyperX Predator m.2 PCIe SSD to work with a Z87 motherboard as a bootable device in a PCIe slot? What about just as a fast storage device, for use alone or with a spinning disk for a Fusion Drive?

Have you been able to upgrade to Mavericks with the RocketRAID 2720 card?
Did you install any drivers on either Mountain Lion or Mavericks? I see a HighpointRR.kext in both.
I'd like confirmation that the HighPoint RocketRAID 2720SGL card works with the built-in kernel extension in both OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Mavericks. Preference for known compatibility with a Haswell i7 on a Gigabyte Z87 board. If so, it certainly seems like an economical choice for increased...
