Are you sure your Samsung TV supports 1440p? I have a sony x850c and it only seems to be able to use 1080p or 2160p. I can choose between 4096X2160 or 3840x2160, but nothing in between those numbers and 1080p (such as 1440p).
I had to run this terminal command to enable HiDPI resolutions.
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist DisplayResolutionEnabled -bool true

When I got those two things installed I had a huge list of resolutions in switchresx and did not have to make a custom one. I see...

Enable Hidpi Resolutions
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist DisplayResolutionEnabled -bool true
Hey everyone. I have been at this for over a week and I'm really starting to cringe every time I test the custom resolutions cause my TV gets no signal and then it's very hard to recover. I have an x79 board and a gtx 980. My tv is a Sony x850c and has hdmi 2.0 via the "enhanced" mode enabled in...

I have a TP-Link Archer T6E wi-fi card. I began my first hackintosh install a few days ago using the guide for installing a fresh...
Didn't see an update on this in the rest of the thread. How did this end up going? I'm trying to setup the same thing with the exact same cable and I had the same problem you did when first attempting to make the custom resolution in switchresx.
Thanks!
