FIX--I keep forgetting that most of these video problems are caused by cables...the problem was that the DVI cable was one of those without the full compliment of pins. HDMI cables have similar limitations.

So this is where I gave up months ago, I was hoping there was a fix by now, either for Mavericks or Yosemite. Cant get higher than 1920x1200x32, I use a 2560 x 1600 monitor. THX!!

I read somewhere that Haswell wont support higher resolution yet. In my quest for answers to my OP, Ive come across several fixes, but Im not sure which are outdated because a newer solution was figured out. Most of them are about getting HDMI sound working, which is not what I'm interested...
