gigabyte b85m i5 16gb rx480 > 65" TV installed fine, booted fine, but now getting artifacts on the screen, followed by either black screen and or "no signal" from the that point on. I've tried using both my freshly installed Catalina, old Catalina, install USB, and getting the same results...

woop woop, just updated to a newer machine... rx550's were both bad, started with a 1050ti and swapped in my recently purchased rx480 8gb... now to figure out how to install the better os :D EDIT- well, that was easy. pop ssd out of old box, into new box, boot, errything works. nice. rx480...

I did, same odd results with the colors etc. I'm beginning to think the old dude on Dell forums was right about the channels being weird or whatever.. I'm picking up another box to try tomorrow that's a little more modern. I'll try these cards in it and see what happens. maybe they're fine and...

agreed, standardization is great. just the same, if I boot with both the rx and my old gt710 connected to the display, I can access the bios from the 710 and see the rx listed in video cards.... but if I boot with the rx connected to the display, this happens

I agree. but still, I keep finding "it won't work" in different forums. I can get into BIOS, but it's really hard to see anything ;-) I can't believe just how much conflicting information there is about running low profile rx550 in this old Dell. wow

this is odd... done folks from Dell forums says it's impossible to run rx cards on this platform, others say it works fine. I'm finding it hard to believe u have two bad cards. I mean, that's basically my luck but still.

I was hoping to find out why they're behaving exactly the same way, rectify the issue and use one of them in my editing rig. my understanding is that these cards are supposed to be plug n play easy upgrades.

lol agreed. I purchased 2 of these.... the first one intent on using for the hack, but Amazon said it was damaged/un deliverable... so I purchased a second, and they both arrived the same day, undamaged. both cards exhibit these patterns. I can't even see the bios , sigh, I think I might be...

I have the pink yestron rx550 4gb mentioned earlier. when I start the computer the only available resolution is 1080p, and no acceleration. I'm sure that I do not understand what needs to be done to access full memory and acceleration of this card. is it as simple as adding a boot argument...

All my issues were related to the 64Gb thumb drive i was trying to use (booting issues) all my graphics issues were because I couldn't see the "nvidia disable=1" on clover (user error) booting errors were user error, missing the EFI (user error) so basically, i have a REALLY nice running dell...

aha, i missed the step of copying over EFI folder ... it's booting fine , thank you ! now to get accleration working on my nice old gt710 nvidia card and sound working :D this is so much fun when it works a little :-)
