I have an OS that does everything I want it to (I'd rather have a high track-count than a load of bells and whistles) So why would I buy a Micro$oft beta OS? All M$'s previous OSs have been released as bug-laden as an Ebola patient who's also got Salmonella, Legionnaires Disease and Nile...

Not wanting to "rain on your parade", but you may find your Core Duo a little too slow for serious audio (IMO It'd struggle to run more than a few plugins on a pretty limited track count in Logic/ProTools) HTH

I'd recommend staying on a tried and tested version of OSX rather than that latest version Mine works great on Snow Leopard (I only need to use 10.6.8 to get what I want) it's stable and rock solid for audio (better than my "real" apple (A MBP)) as latencies are lower, and the track count is...

Just re-read, and I have to ask... Have you checked the phase of that (the SM57 kick drum) track ? (It sounds like it might possibly be phase cancellation) Try zooming right in and checking it against the OH's (or any tracks where the kick has bled through (as a reference)) and making sure...

Agreed... Re-triggering always sounds, well like re-triggering in a mix (and then the sin is often compounded with tons of inappropriate swimmy reverb and/or gating that destroys any remaining dynamics) IMO its far better to multilayer/multisample if you can't get the sound you want...

I'd use an 1176 (Waves' Blue line would be my weapon of choice for most kicks) and maybe SPL's Transient Designer and some EQ'ing to tweak it to perfection/infamy (delete as applicable) If it helps you could email the kick track to me and I'll give it a mauling for you ;) HTH
