    Is this he d'ya'think... ? :D

Are any of you willing to pay $40 for Windows 8 Upgrade?

I have an OS that does everything I want it to (I'd rather have a high track-count than a load of bells and whistles) So why would I buy a Micro$oft beta OS? All M$'s previous OSs have been released as bug-laden as an Ebola patient who's also got Salmonella, Legionnaires Disease and Nile...

New User needs some help and recommendations.

Not wanting to "rain on your parade", but you may find your Core Duo a little too slow for serious audio (IMO It'd struggle to run more than a few plugins on a pretty limited track count in Logic/ProTools) HTH

    A blast from the past

You think he still uses BBSes*? :D *If he's really un-evolved he'd still be using dial-up rather than telnet for BBS connection :D

He could well be a poster here, if he's running OS-X on it :D

music studio your HACK experience help needed please...

I'd recommend staying on a tried and tested version of OSX rather than that latest version Mine works great on Snow Leopard (I only need to use 10.6.8 to get what I want) it's stable and rock solid for audio (better than my "real" apple (A MBP)) as latencies are lower, and the track count is...

Any Kick Drum Wizards - Logic Pro 9

Just re-read, and I have to ask... Have you checked the phase of that (the SM57 kick drum) track ? (It sounds like it might possibly be phase cancellation) Try zooming right in and checking it against the OH's (or any tracks where the kick has bled through (as a reference)) and making sure...

Any Kick Drum Wizards - Logic Pro 9

Agreed... Re-triggering always sounds, well like re-triggering in a mix (and then the sin is often compounded with tons of inappropriate swimmy reverb and/or gating that destroys any remaining dynamics) IMO its far better to multilayer/multisample if you can't get the sound you want...

Any Kick Drum Wizards - Logic Pro 9

I'd use an 1176 (Waves' Blue line would be my weapon of choice for most kicks) and maybe SPL's Transient Designer and some EQ'ing to tweak it to perfection/infamy (delete as applicable) If it helps you could email the kick track to me and I'll give it a mauling for you ;) HTH

I can remember running CP/M on an Apple II+ (I had a Z80A Co-Pro card and it flew, relatively speaking of course ;) ) Mmmmmmmmmm Z80A @ 2MHz! 8-) Here's a photo of the model I had, mine had 4 FDDs! You needed 2x FDD cards for that, what with the Z80A CoPro that was a major...

    A blast from the past

I hope this brings a smile to your day people... I was going through the box-room (as y'do ) and found three old G3s (a Server and two 8600/200s) :-o I thought I'd drag them out and see if any of them might make the basis of a custom case for a Hackintosh I'm thinking of building...

    SUCCESS! so far....

May I suggest that you get a copy of CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) and make a clone of your OS drive (dont forget to install chimera on it if you want it to be bootable  ) And I'd highly recommend you do it before you try installing any other OSs (just as a precaution ) In fact I'd...

To experienced builders: 10.6.7 vs 10.6.8?

I seem to recall life got a lot easier once I'd got 10.6.8 (on both my Hackintosh and my MBP) Until I went to 10.6.8 I couldn't use my trackpad, and IIRC there were some issues that interfered with audio production but I can't for the life of me remember what they were exactly , but my...
