    X299 - Open Core support

Try using a larger AVX and/or AVX512 offset. Not sure why, but my 7980XE became way more stable in macos. It was never a problem in windows or Linux. Weird.

    X299 - Open Core support

Oh, sorry for the lack of clarity. I have been running Mojave/Clover/iMac hackintosh for awhile now. Wanted to upgrade to Catalina for a couple of different reasons. I'll upload my config tomorrow. Too tired right now...

    X299 - Open Core support

I managed to get Catalina installed using OC, but it won't boot! Clover can boot it, but something isn't quite right with my OC config. I tried using the MacPro 7,1 SMBIOS for OC (while Clover is using iMacPro1,1). I forgot to take picture of the boot process, so I'll troubleshoot it again...

Yeah, but no USB 2.0 9-pin header, which what this card seems to want.

    X299 - Open Core support

Thanks for the tip! I wonder why they couldn't just put their own USB controller on the card...?

    X299 - Open Core support

Interesting! I’ll need todo some reading because that doesn’t look like a simple process. What are you plugging the usb header cable into? There doesn’t seem to be a usb 2.0 internal header on the Asus X299 Sage...

Does TB3 work better (easier to setup) with OpenCore vs Clover? I'm still on Clover, but haven't been able to get TB3 to work well.

To be clear, I think you meant you increased the offsets (higher numbers) to lower the load that AVX puts on the CPU. I don't anyone to be confused. ;)

    Asus X299 - Support

It's been awhile since I posted, so I thought I'd update you. I managed to fix my motherboard myself. A couple of the CPU socket pins were bent, so I bent them back into place (yes, I was nervous!) and it seems to be fine. Anyways, prior to all that, I was having random lockups/freezes and...

    Asus X299 - Support

I requested a dispute but the case was closed. They said to get another RMA, quote for repair, and then dispute it again. Sigh...

They’re pulling the “physical damage isn’t covered” card. I definitely bent the USB pins on the mobo after squashing it a bit with a GPU. Also thinking about a GB Designare since it has thunderbolt built in.

Welp, Asus wants $600 to repair my board. I could almost buy a new mobo for that! Any recommendations on boards? Thinking about getting the 10G version. Look at my setup.

    Asus X299 - Support

I haven't worked on it very much, since TB3 is a nice thing for me, as opposed to necessary, but no, I have not managed to get it work in Win10, MacOS, or Ubuntu. Win10 and Ubuntu see the card, but devices aren't recognized. Could be the card, I suppose. The Asus TB3 EX board (or whatever it was...

Huh, I tested Geekbench 5 in windows and it crashes (BSOD) too. Must be some weird incompatibility with the ASUS WS Sage or something like that. I don’t really care, but GB is a pretty common metric and figured it might be a good comparison. Cinebench R20 seems like a better one anyway.

I think there is something weird with Geekbench and hackintoshes. I delidded and used liquid metal on my CPU which has improved thermals quite a bit, such that I can use "sync all cores" in BIOS now. I'll still need to install my water loop, I think for sustained really long-term work, but...
