    SSD never going to sleep

I realize "wear" is totally different for SSDs and HDDs. In my experience with windows, if you don't make read or write requests the drive controller puts the drive to sleep. So while many of my windows systems have power on times of 1000's of hours the drives typically have much less (maybe...

    SSD never going to sleep

Is there a way to manually change the disk sleep timeout via the terminal? Maybe I can manually change it to a shorter time to see if that forces the drive to sleep? Or could this just be an eccentricity of this particular Toshiba drive/controller in combination with Mac OS?

    SSD never going to sleep

I suppose I should have specified, other than that. That option is checked but the disk is never going to sleep judging by the powered on hours. Total writes aren't too bad but drive life remaining is down to like 80%. So I'd like the drive to go to sleep as much as possible.

    SSD never going to sleep

I have separate drives for Windows 10 and High Sierra. While checking Disk Info i noticed my Windows ssd has about 1000 hours on it over 2 years. Not bad. Windows is set to put drives to sleep after 5 minutes, so that sounds about right. But my Mac OS ssd has 12,500 powered on hours over 2...

[Solved] Updated Clover now I can't boot

Mounted my High Sierra drive via Sata to USB. Grabbed AptioMemoryFix-64.efi from one of my Clover EFI backups on the drive. Mounted EFI volume. Dropped it in the appropriate folder. Problem Solved.

[Solved] Updated Clover now I can't boot

Not trying to make it difficult, I just don't know how would I run the Clover installer without a functioning Mac? All I have available to me currently is a Windows 10 PC.

[Solved] Updated Clover now I can't boot

I'm browsing around the Clover files on Sourceforge. Can I download the relevant drivers from there? https://sourceforge.net/p/cloverefiboot/code/HEAD/tree/

[Solved] Updated Clover now I can't boot

Only have two ram slots, and everything was fine for 2 years until I updated Clover. Only BIOS setting that was changed was Boot Order, which now displays Clover Legacy.

[Solved] Updated Clover now I can't boot

So in looking at that thread, it seems like i need to add these drivers to my EFI folder on my High Sierra drive. Where do I find these drivers to put them in the EFI folder? I don't have a bootable USB for High Sierra. IIRC I did a direct upgrade to HS from Yosemite. So my bootable USB is...

[Solved] Updated Clover now I can't boot

In preparation for updating to Mojave from fully functional High Sierra (formatted in APFS) I updated my Clover Configurator, and Clover bootloader both to the latest version. I updated both through Clover Configurator. Upon rebooting I get to the Clover boot selector screen, I can see Windows...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 (387.10.10.10.25)

Is there any reason not to use the Nvidia 346.03.15f12 driver with my current install of El Cap 10.11.6 (15G19009) or would that Nvidia driver not support newer Pascal cards? I'd like to upgrade to, or fresh install, High Sierra at some point, but if the old driver will work with my current...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 (387.10.10.10.25)

So Intel 87/97, Lynx Point, are fine? They don't even exhibit the stuttering? I'm just really curious before I pull the trigger on getting a GT1030/P600 for my Q87 and H97 hacks. Otherwise I'll go with an RX550 if it easier, they're just not in stock anywhere.

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 (387.10.10.10.25)

Found it. Cool, thanks! Now I'm even more tempted to rebuild a hackintosh from scratch, now that I know there's a repository of drivers on here.
