Solved > Catalina on Biostar TH55HD Socket 1156 with Sapphire Pulse RX580

Upgrade to 10.15.4 results in BIOS reset at shutdown (requires me to restore saved BIOS config at each startup). Currently running Clover r5107. Hoping that a future version of Clover fixes this 10.15.4 issue.

    macOS 10.15.4 Update

EDIT: After a bit of research, I found that others have this BIOS Reset problem and they have concluded that it's not Clover. This seems to be caused by something that 10.15.4 is doing. ------------------------------------------------------ Upgrade to 10.15.4 on HackPro5,1 is ok, except BIOS...

macOS Catalina Cleanup: Remove Kexts From /Library/Extensions and Recache

Not that it matters, but will you be recommending that Clover "Inject Kexts" = YES instead of DETECT?

[GUIDE] Installing 3rd Party Kexts - El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina

@jaymonkey Does this change your opinion about where to install kexts? https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/macos-catalina-cleanup-remove-kexts-from-library-extensions-and-recache.293719/

Solved > Catalina on Biostar TH55HD Socket 1156 with Sapphire Pulse RX580

I needed to boot High Sierra 10.13.6 and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Sapphire Pulse RX580 works perfectly in HS.

[GUIDE] Installing 3rd Party Kexts - El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina

EDIT: I have revised my Bluetooth kext installation, so that I'm able to install as many kexts as possible in /L/E. My current configuration is reflected below. ---------------------------------- For all of the good reasons stated by jaymonkey in Post #1 of this thread, I would much prefer to...

Solved > Catalina on Biostar TH55HD Socket 1156 with Sapphire Pulse RX580

EDIT: I figured out why audio quality is better and it has nothing to do with the upgrade to Catalina or the RX580 :). During installation of my RX580 video card, I rearranged cabling. I moved the audio cable (unshielded) from the rear PC audio jack to my speakers, so that it was no longer...

[Guide] USB power property injection for Sierra (and later)

EDIT2: I have decided to use SSDT-USBX instead of adding "AppleBusPowerControler" to SSDT-UIAC. I'm only choosing this method since it is consistent with the newer USBMap documentation (even though operationally, the two solutions appear to yield the same result)...

Solved > Catalina on Biostar TH55HD Socket 1156 with Sapphire Pulse RX580

As I was confirming proper installation/configuration of USB in Catalina 10.15.3, I used the USBMap tool to verify port mapping / power configuration. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Catalina's IOUSBHostFamily.kext still contains the required references to MacPro5,1, even though...

Solved > Catalina on Biostar TH55HD Socket 1156 with Sapphire Pulse RX580

I upgraded to Catalina 10.15.3 and realized after that I did not have WhateverGreen.kext installed. It looks like WhateverGreen.kext is not required for this MBP5,1 with Sapphire Pulse RX580. There were some graphics artifacts during boot (and during install) that cleared themselves after the...

[Guide] Using Clover to "hotpatch" ACPI

I don't yet have experience with newer systems, so no apology necessary - I'm the limitation here, not you. Thank you for your reply! If the simple replacement of "Return (GPRW(0x0D, 0x04))" with "Return (GPRW(0x0D, 0x00))" works on newer systems, it's because Method (GPRW) doesn't do a bunch...

[Guide] Using Clover to "hotpatch" ACPI

@UtterDisbelief I simplified my paraphrasing to keep it short and left out details; however, do you agree that regardless of whether the pair is (0x6d, 0x03) or (0x0d, 0x04), the replacement of 0x03 or 0x04 with 0x00 is not the same as changing Method (GPRW) to return Package () {0x6d, 0x00}...

[Guide] Using Clover to "hotpatch" ACPI

I found what I think is an inconsistency in Rehabman's USB Instant Wake patch described in Post #1 of this thread. At first, Rehabman describes the Instant Wake patch as replacing Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized) // _PRW: Power Resources for Wake {...
