Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

@scottkendall I was hoping to keep it, but was not sure if the errors I kept getting at OC validate would cause problems. Feel free to modify the settings and try it yourself. Here are the instructions - https://github.com/CaseySJ/Aquantia-macOS-Patches

Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

After a few days, I was able to fine-tune my OC settings. I noticed that while running MacOS with SIP and SecureBoot disabled, Firefox and some other apps wouldn't work well. Investigating a bit more, I discovered that I had to remove amfi=0x80 from boot-args, and inject AMFIPass.kext instead...

Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

Thanks a lot @pastrychef. I was finally able to make it work after reviewing and recreating the whole config.plist. I made a few changes and I am not sure what fixed it. Could it have to do with having set DisableIoMapperMapping to True? Also, on your Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming thread...

Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

Merry Christmas @pastrychef! I have a quick question. I have a build very similar to yours for which I have been using your OC settings. I have just upgraded to Sonoma and have a question regarding WiFi. Did you end up patching BCM94360CS2 with OCLP or moving to an Intel-based PCI like the ones...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I had it enabled! I have just disabled the autopoweroff variable and tweaked other energy settings through pmset. I will update the thread with the results.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

@pastrychef it seems that I have been able to resolve the GPU instability by enabling the RadeonDeInit variable to the config.plist and leaving the WhateverGreen.kext on the EFI platform. I have discovered that the WhateverGreen.kext is needed to support audio over the DisplayPort cable. On a...

Thank you @pastrychef, I will play with those variables to see if I find a solution.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Hi again! I have been able to test my box today, and have discovered some serious problems with the GPU. OS X has stopped responding multiple times with Chrome and MS Word opened. I could move the mouse but the windows would not respond, forcing me to power cycle the computer (and noticing an...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

@pastrychef I borrowed a Display Port monitor from work, and I was able to successfully boot using the GPU! :) I have also confirmed that dual monitor setup works with the GPU using an HDMI and DisplayPort connection simultaneously. Additionally, I have applied the USB fix following your steps...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Thank you for your advice @pastrychef. I will check the HDMI version used (I assume its 1.2), and will keep you posted on my progress. From what I have read online, the RX 580 firmware of "bad" batches does not have to be modified for macOS 10.13.4, is that right?

@pastrychef thanks a lot for your support through the thread. After a decade thinking about it, I finally bought the parts and built my first hackintosh based on your build: MB: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz Turbo) Cooler...
