I have a X99-UD5-WIFI Gigabyte board, 32gigs of DDR4 and 2x970 SLI GTX EVGA cards and everything is working very well.

I have to use VoodooHDA for audio, but i get by with it (for now). I have no issues so far graphically with a single display on my SLI, never tried 2 or 3 displays. For anyone building a new machine definitely get a X99 and 970/980 GPU, the support is just going to get better, its already mostly functional right now and I use it as a daily work machine on 10.10 doing programming / xcode / iOS Sim / Web / etc.

also my Motu PCI-424 card works no issues if you are into pro audio.

I have ASUS X99-DELUXE and was able to use HDA kexts in the most recent MultiBeast to get audio working. FWIW... might want to remove VooDooHDA and try MultiBeast...

How are these motherboards handling OS X?

I'm guessing if I have an older 27" Apple LED Cinema Display (with the audio as a seperate USB cable), I'll just get audio without any modifications, right?

I'm right in the middle of buying my machine and I'm seriously considering Z97 vs X99. Would you say that you don't have any issues that are show-stoppers? What about sleep/wake? power management, things like that?

Thanks.

What Motherboard are you using?

I have it and got it working. The dual ThunderboltEX II is available on Amazon through a trusted retailer (I got mine like 5 days after I ordered). They go fast fast though, I was lucky to get one. They're only $10 more than the single port too. Security must be turned off in BIOS (legacy in UEFI BIOS>ADVANCED>THUNDERBOLT) for it to work BUT...

There's a problem under SMBios6,1. I can't get passed PCI Config in -v if I have a TB Device plugged in. With the actual PCI card installed 6,1 boots fine but no PCI Thunderbolt device is found in the IOReg tree. The only solution I could come up with is just using 5,1 and after deleting AppleThunderboltNHI.kext (solution was found here under TB testing thread). If you don't remove AppleThunderboltNHI it boots super slow and is kinda buggy (my keyboard wouldn't be found for 1-2 minutes after boot for instance). But under 5,1 everything works great, minus the advantages to 6,1 services. I have a friend who knows a TON more than me working on the 6,1 issue and hopefully he can resolve it. So long story short: yes, it works!

Now I have a 4.5Ghz (78°C under torture) EIGHT Core, 32Gb 2666(evil) DDR4, 2x Titan Black AND THUNDERBOLT 2 Equipped Hack. It's a good time for Hackintosh (minus X99 power management - which WILL come soon).

Has anything happened between this date, and today?

Alright so basically, when are we going to get the testing results out for us. Please let us get a estimate out there first and foremost. SECONDLY,

SECONDLY, is MAXWELL gpu's rumored to be arriving, i.e. gtx 970/gtx 980 going to work for hackintoshability. The gtx 750 and gtx 750 ti are also maxwell, do they work, if so, shouldn't gtx 980 work?

Again, please read/study this thread carefully. In my post #160, I provided links to threads for X99 builds with both Mavericks & Yosemite that include users (like myself) who are using GTX 970/980 cards as well. Also there is a separate thread on new drivers from NVIDIA for GTX 970/980. Simply use the forum's search function & you'll ultimately find what you're looking for.

Thank you and the others here to share there their work.
I got a 'old' Hackintosh build for 6 years now, and yes running Yosemite. Its getting slowww.
I am reading myself back in the X99 world, but in the mean time I want to buy one and have the X99-UD5-WIFI Gigabyte board in mind.

My target is
1 or 2 970. two or three displays, two dell's 24" and want to buy an 4or5K display
Thunderbolt II
Photoshop
Video
NAS - Got enough power ( 10 SATA ) and its actually used when I'am not behind the keyboard.

Because its running 24/7 I will use it also to control/communicate with a few MCU's using a private wifi.
I use iMessage a lot.

Because of your writing about everything is working, I have a few questions.
Is your wifi working or should I go for a wifi card? ac protocol?
Are both ethernet connections working?
Is iMessage working?
Did you try in the meantime a second display on one card?
Are you using a Thunderbolt card?

I would be thankful for your answers, because then I can order everything in one go.

And of course, my main question, I forgot to mention is, how much power does this draw? how much watt is your recomennded powersuply?
