As long as you can survive til step 3, you're good to go.

Read my guide to convert Chameleon to Clover UEFI:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook-mavericks/112383-guide-install-mavericks-clover-bootloader.html

If you don't want to take this risk, do a clean install.

Thanks for the help - I have followed the instructions and I am now on Mavericks with Clover. However, I have lost audio and battery status - do you know where I can the relevant info to patch this?

Repatch your dsdt.

How did you get it? Seems even people in the US are struggling to get it currently!

Thanks nguyenmac it worked (duh..)

Not quite sure. I do have membership of the developer program, but the download is the regular one through the app store without logging into my dev account.

Doesn't work for me. I have an 8460p with latest Clover and PBI CE. Followed the guide exactly, but when I try to actually install Yosemite it takes about a minute to "prepare" then it wants to reboot. After coming back from reboot it just goes into normal login screen, not the install screen.

After restart, do you have other boot option beside Mavericks?

It is just not available in the US yet...

A good use of the time would be to create (several) backups.

Just to be sure, will this procedure affect dual booting windows 8.1 (that I have currently working)?
