Mavericks Magic Trackpad Multitouch won't work

Okay, I have a succefully built a hackintosh running on 10.9.1 only problem is magic trackpad. I have installed 10.8.3 today and Gestures are working right away! But I cannot get it to work in Mavericks, I have 2 different bluetooth adapters, and they both work fine in ML, and gestures work too. But in Mavericks I also have the wrong settings menu, and I can only use left mouse and movement and does anyone how to rename the damn trackpad?

If you have this odd problem with your apple magic track pad try following: find another USB dongle that should work with hackintosh (with other chip than the current installed) and then simply change the bt dongle while the hack is running. Even if it does not work, just wait a moment and switch back to your original. This is just something I found out by coincidence and I have not found any guide how to overcome this otherwise.

Below you have my story with 10.9 and upgrading to 10.9.2 and problem with trackpad.

I built a 10.9 Mavericks and simply took a spare bt from my box. It was a Cambridge Silicon Radio pretty new small bt and it worked like a charm although bt off/on does not work and I do not know about sleep either because I have my hack on all time.
At some point I bought iogear gbu521 and simply put in place instead of the cambridge on. It worked fine and even bt power on/off worked.
Now I updated to 10.9.2 directly, it went smoothly, the only trick was that once the update started and rebooted by itself (as it should too) the hack did not want to start, not even with -f nor -x. I had an usb with 10.9.2/unibeast copy (tried it directly first to ensure my dsdt and ssdt will still work) and the hack booted with it with -x and the 10.9.2 upgrade continued and all went fine.
Everytingh works as earlier including usb3, ssd data with 500/520MB/s, raid-5 9/12G box in e-sata 180/220MB/s, turbo speed on i7, HDMI audio etc. Also the magic trackpad worked as earlier, i.e. perfect.
Now suddenly my trackpad lost all functionality except track and left klick. I deleted the bt profiles several times, made rebuild on the disk, emptied caches (-f) and system report did show no trace of the trackpad profile etc. But any time I installed the trackpad again, I had only the basic functionality.
Now I found my old cambridge silicon bt usb dongle, I simply took away iogear and put the cambrideg one in place while the hack was running all time. First apple keyboard and the trackpad lost connection, then was automatically reinstalled when the cambridge was put in place AND ALL WORKS ON THE TRACK PAD!

Cheers'

Now I'm getting an issue where the pairing attempt is unsuccessful...has anyone found a legitimate fix for this? I have also tried booting with UserKernelCache=no.

The Bluetooth adapter I'm using is the AW-CE123H mini-PCIe half card.

Hi there!
I'm having similar problem here, last day paired my new trackpad under mavericks. For making the gestures work the first time had to reconnect it, and it just worked great, all gestures and so on. But in the next boots i haven't managed to make the multitouch gestures work, i can only use two finger gestures, any idea why? i'm using the built-in bluetooth of my asus p8p67 pro

I have the Asus P8P67 EVO and the trackpad will freeze when I try to use the 3-4 finger gestures.. Debating if I should just return the trackpad. Any suggestions?

ariviit1,

Thanks very much for your guide, it fixed my problem with the trackpad. I tried everything before but to no avail. Your solution worked straight away and the trackpad paired automatically after swapping the BT dongles.

Thanks again.

Had the same problem.

What fixed it for me:

  1. turn off bluetooth
  2. unplug bluetooth adapter
  3. plug in bluetooth adapter
  4. turn on bluetooth

Now multi-touch works great! :)

I tried this but my magic mouse doesn't have scrolling vertically or horizontally. Tracking and left and right clicking are fine... Mavericks.

ok just found a strange work around, I removed and added my logitech mouse dongle. Then my Apple bluetooth mouse disconnected. I reconnected it again via the bluetooth options and scrolling came back.

EDIT: I tried removing my bluetooth adapter from my usb hub to just a usb port on my case and it works like a charm :) tried restarting as well and it worked fine

Can confirm that re-plugging the bluetooth adapter works - removing the track pad configuration didn't help. Thanks!

I was having similar problems with my Magic Trackpad. After trying other fixes, I reinstalled Mavericks with Unibeast 4.0, ran Multibeast 6.3.1 using EasyBeast, and now my trackpad is fully functional.
