Hi
My HP Probook 4740s was working fine on 10.9.2. After I update it to 10.9.3 using combo update, its panic.

If I try using boot flags
IGPEnabler=Yes IGPlatformID=01660004 PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=No -x

The Apple logo screen comes with a status bar in bottom, but system just turns off after some time (about half of minute). May be installation of 10.9.3 was not completed.

Please Help :(

================ Update ================
If I try following boot flags:

IGPEnabler=Yes GraphicsEnabler=No dart=0 -v -x -f IGPlatformID=01660004

The systems just starts displaying some horrible text with black background after some time it just turns off. I couldn't read all text, but just before turning off in bottom was something like:

Read HFS+ File ...................
Read HFS+ File ...................
Read HFS+ File ...................
.
.
.

The volume Mac could not be verified
CPU halted

and then the system just turned off.

================ Update 2 ================
If I use following boot flags:
IGPlatformID=0160004 dart=0 -v

System hangs, please see following screen shot

================ Update 3 ================
As suggested by RehabMan, I tried to boot in verbose mode using
-v -x

and found the message,
Code:
disk0s2: I/O error.
** The volume MAC could not be verified completely.
CPU halted

I am stupid, I didn't think anything and just run command in unibeast terminal, described here
Code:
dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/disk0s2

Then I tried to boot again in verbose mode
-v -x

And now the error is changed

Finally I thought to try fresh install without formatting drive. But its not even getting easier too. Now I have another strange error

Code:
The contents of the disk can't be changed.

Another strange problem, while booting from USB, my mouse is not detected. I also tried
USBBusFix=Yes
and
USBBusFix=Y

both are not working. USBBusFix=Y just hangs the system at Apple boot logo

Someone Please help :(

Thanks RehabMan for reply.

I have already followed the update guide and tried -f on HDD using unibeast USB.
The Apple Logo screen appears, with activity indicator and status bar in bottom. The status bar never starts and after some time the system turns off automatically. I have also tried

UserKernelCache=No -f
UserKernelCache=No -f -x
-x
-f

but nothing working

Boot verbose so you know what is happening.

Please see my updated Post after trying verbose.

First of all, you should be booting using your Unibeast USB, then using "-f" (in addition to any other flags). And why are you attempting to install Lion over and existing Mavericks install?

1. When I try to boot using "-f" only, Apple logo screens comes with activity indicator and a status bar. But after some seconds (15-20), the system just turns off automatically.

2. I not trying to re-install lion, its mavericks. I don't know why it displays Lion in error message

I'm saying that whatever flags you intend to use, you must also include "-f"...

It is saying that because it is Lion.

You should re-create what you think is your Mavericks USB using Unibeast.

Ok, i'll re create the unibeast USB after 3-4 hours (where I get access to other MAC in my office). But I was wondering I have never downloaded OS X Lion setup, how USB contains this. But may be you are right because I just had asked my friend to create unibeast USB for me. He might have OS X Lion download on his system.

BTW, this was the case for fresh install. Any idea why its not booting after update 10.9.3. I tried with verbose and you can see in image attachment #8, there is a line

Code:
/dev/rdisk0s2 (NO WRITE)

and also

Code:
disk0s2: I/O error.

Can you guess, what could be the problem with disk, may be write permissions or something else?

You should run Disk Utility from the OS X installer (after you recreate it with Unibeast) and do a Repair Disk.
